Nomad bee on soil.
Nomad bee on gloved hand.
I love observing and recording insects, and today I found this, I think a new species for me. It's Gooden's nomad bee, a kleptoparasite of mining bees, and apparently it only occurs where there are healthy mining bee populations. Hymenopterans are pretty rad.

Congress has to stop attacking our #PublicLands.
The latest: Senator Mike Lee is weaponizing the Congressional Review Act resolution in an attempt to wipe out protections for Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Hummingbirds arenβt typical patients for us, but baby bird season arrived early.
This pair of Allenβs Hummingbird hatchlings showed up in a box on our doorstep, and we moved quickly to care for them.
Their beaks are so so small that drops from Q-tips kept them hydrated!
