Love the song, love the clarity of concept, and my first graders are going to love to think about these big numbers too!
I looked it up because I was interested to see it too! Here is the link (for others): www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LrQ...
Becuase we use a lot of dice.
My second grader and I found math in the wild. Which is longer...4 years or 1000 days? This would also make a good task for #VNPS #TMWYK #BuildingThinkingClassrooms
Happy New Year! And a new blog post as a treat (a week earlier than planned).
NEW Blog Post: βStop asking if we should tell and start asking howβ
Why does telling remain such a charged issue in mathematics teaching? Reframing telling through its functions rather than its form offers a way forward.
This will make a great #noticewonder for my first graders (sans one category π).
You should make this! I used Simple Mills Honey Cinnamon crackers instead of ginger snaps and added some raspberries that needed to be eaten. The kids wanted seconds. ;) www.gimmesomeoven.com/blueberry-ta...

Love the adaptable idea of creating controversy to get a free by-product...remembering!
I need to know who decides this color and what are the criterion for the decision?
Your products just make me smile! :)

This could be a great task for building thinking classrooms too! How many of each color square would you need to make each cookie? Blue is cut in half so two blue squares, etc. I'm saving it for later in my first grade year.
I rarely see you do donut shapes. Will they usually end up with a circular center?
That is one playground perfect shed!
I mean, the name itself will delight my first graders!
Tell me when are those times, please?
two-by-two grid of shapes: purple borders against a tan background. Upper left: a circle. Upper right: a many-sided regular polygon. Lower left: an ellipse at a jaunty angle. Lower right: a square with very rounded corners.
I made this for a friend who was headed off to talk with first graders about circles last week.
Which one doesn't belong?
Or maybe it's a square whose corners fell off.
Hi friend! Yes they recommend that connecting cubes, 100 chart, counters, and base ten blocks lose their power in higher numbers, so there are other models that are more efficient. Their suggestion is to start with 5-rack, 10-rack, 20-rack, and then Open Number Line.
Learning so much over at Make Math Moments Summit! Haven't found them here yet, but I am currently rethinking using counters and connecting cubes so much to move students beyond counting models. We need efficiency!
