Happy Tranniversary!! Now your trans identity can legally drink and vote π
Probably already a tired iteration of an old trope but was laughing to myself today while seeing my vaguely contemporary corporate chic against my pinned up Victorian hair π
Trans women don't exist from about 1960-2100. We're either 18th century witches, 1950's housewives, or post revolutionary cyberpunks.
This is becoming the finest skirt I have ever designed and put together. Excited to add the final notions this week.
Every time someone says "I wish adults could be like kids in a playground and walk up to people and ask to be friends" like... you actually can just do that and it frequently works.
This picture is concerning. The planet is much closer to us than I thought.
Thanks π
Picked this up for $30. Someone's Grandma's machine that'd been stored in a shed. In a catalogue I found online these went for Β£28 in the 40's - which adjusted for inflation and converted to Australian is something like $3,500 (or more accounting for wage equivalence). Blows my mind.
Singer sewing machine. Picture is taken from a forward angle, showing the elegant Celtic-inspired design on the machine's front metal plate.
Finished restoring my Singer treadle 201K machine from 1940. On the sewing surfaces I stripped the original damaged finish and did my own shellac - the rest of the timber got a few layers of (raw) linseed oil. The machine was cleaned and re-oiled and good to go for decades to come.
Must be birthday week! Time for my annual parsnip cake xxx
Not that I generally consider them to be the brightest of bulbs but you know
Surprised with all the book banning I don't see conservative nut-jobs calling them lie-braries. That seems like such low-hanging fruit as far as puns go
John Wick 5 has two options to keep things fresh and raise stakes:
Crime palace on the Moon and an intergalactic syndicate of space assassins.
John Wick gets amnesia and also everyone in the World is an assassin now.
Hair is getting long. Too long now to ever be down outside the house except for special occasions x
Luke Skywalker: What do you feel?
Rey: Life. Death. Balance.
Luke: Great!
Rey: So there is no "dark side" of the force, our actions are shaped by the intent and malice of our own minds.
Luke: NO STUPID GIRL THE DARK SIDE IS REAL IT WILL CORRUPT YOU FOREVER DON'T TOUCH IT YOU IDIOT
Good luck! Job searching is soul-crushing. Just remember not to conflate the gross despair of sending resumΓ©s with the quality of your person-ness overall π
Like I'm raising 2 daughters in a hyperdigital world and needing to be aware of how digital influence can affect perceptions and behaviour and it gets wild how badly removed from context folk can be - not to mention the deliberate misinformation and "influencer" cultures
Generally I am often dismayed at the state of what social media is doing to young minds and how people seem less able to parse and contextualise what content they consume.
YES, a less neurodiverse brain can interpret more complex social signals, such as when word meaning is augmented by body language. But NO, that doesn't mean "neurotypicals always speak in hidden codes". It CAN BE an American mannerism thing to avoid direct verbal requests and rely on cultural cues.
Bugbear but so often when people talk about "neurotypical this" or "neurotypical that" what they're actually discussing is "Americanised social conventions". Yet because so many folk are chronically online they are getting a completely skewed version of what they think is inherent brain ability.
Pictured is an artful shot of an antique Singer treadle sewing machine. The machine intricate moulding design on the front cover plate is prominently shown. A green box of machine accessories and an instruction manual are shown atop the machine.
Check out my new/old toy - a treadle Singer 201K manufactured in 1940 in full working order. Picked up for $30! Just needs an oil and clean and a bit of new varnish on the timber cabinet, barely a spot of rust to be found. I'm in love.
Last year at some point I still considered myself just a morris dancer with an occasional Scottish ceilidh thrown in. Then I found swing. Now in the last month I've dabbled in salsa, bachata and forrΓ³. Meeting new folk and loving this life of new music and social partner dances π
Hey hey!
Word of the day is βmatutolypeaβ: extreme grumpiness in the morning.
From the Latin βMatutaβ, Roman goddess of the dawn, and the Greek βlypeβ, βgriefβ. Put them together and you get βmorning griefβ.
That's odd, like people you already know?
I fully expect this account to be a bit of an outlet for the low-stakes shenanigans my mind spins up
Classic Lorelei throwback to the golden age of my Twitter account:
If you spent your childhood wishing you had Alex Mack powers how is your gender identity and transition going now?
Woohoo!
Completely fascinated by the discourse around intimacy/sex in fantasy novels and how weird people get about it. There's like, a whole group of folk who only write or read fantasy with minimal to no romance?
A True Love sounds nice
A Forever Partner
A Soul Mate
Like the stories
But part me also hopes
My heart gets broken
A hundred hundred times
So I can mend each crack with gold
A kintsugi teacup heart
Shining and glittering
And I could hold it proudly
And show
All the life I was unafraid to live
