Burnaby mountain, when?
This is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen.
Context: 400 year backlog of sidewalk maintenance. Ever-decreasing road quality.

okaaayyyyy bluesky I have been introduced to the "for you" feed and it's SO MUCH BETTER! kinda freaky that the algorithm knows me this well, but I'll accept it because it really is for me~
I've spent years fighting for homes and a more affordable, equitable Vancouver.
Now I want to take that fight to City Hall as your councillor. Go to www.PeterForCouncil.ca and join OneCity so you can support Peter For Council and help me get on the ballot!

People hold signs at a rally in support of public transit in Metro Vancouver. It's very rainy.

Someone holds a sign that says "Save the Bus". They're also holding up an umbrella.
In March @movementyvr.bsky.social put on a huge rally to Save the Bus. The following month, Mayors and province came together and transit in Metro Van was saved from service cuts and a death spiral.
Soon, we will finally have service levels that go above and beyond what we haven't had since 2019π₯³ππ
His motion to increase parking minimums failed last night :)

Two extremely important reasons to show up at Burnaby City Hall today!
- Myself and a volunteer from @movementyvr.bsky.social are delegating about the Hastings BRT
- There is a counter protest to support social housing!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're still waiting for the TransLink survey results, and council's decision on the route is expected early next year. Send them an email about your preference if you haven't yet!

A brightly coloured graphic with a snippet from the Vancouver Sun Article about the Housing and Transportation Cost Burden Study Update. A link to the article in the caption or in our bio. Vancouver Sun Graph of Average Annual Cost of Housing and Transportation in Metro Vancouver by Municipality Metro Vancouver can't solve cost-of-living crisis without addressing the cost of getting around While the multi-billion-dollar SkyTrain projects draw the most public attention β and money β thereβs another, often overlooked mode of transportation that Metroβs leaders view as a big part of the near-term solution: the humble bus. Movement
It's no surprise that housing in Metro Vancouver is expensive. But it might surprise you that for some parts of our region, transportation costs even more than housing.

omg some Olympic Village residents are trying to NIMBY the elementary school. They're citing "neighbourhood character" for why four floors is just too much damned school for their neighbourhood
Should this major transit investment duplicate existing service or go to a totally awesome neighbourhood where we can visit restaurants and dentists and friends?
Have your say and fill out the survey today!!!! This will shape Burnaby for years to come.

It was awesome collaborating with @tomflood.bsky.social on this project. So cool to see this up!
Next speaker Michelle @chellers.bsky.social . Cities like Hoboken NJ have achieved vision zero using solid measures to slow down cars. Many cities "declare" vision zero lack a solid plan to get there. Need leaders to prioritize it & follow evidence based approach, like today's motion.
HAHAHAHA this is exactly what I was trying to evoke. Thank you for the meme πππ
headline of linked article
"City leaders today still have a choice: bow to privilege and maintain an unfair, damaging status quo, or show leadership by prioritizing fair, efficient, and affordable transportation over the single-occupant car and the exalted parking spot."

bricks mentioned!!!!!! π§±βΊοΈπ§± yes Iβm in that photo haha. honestly they worked great as a stunt but they arenβt actually very effective at slowing down drivers π
We care about moderate transit increases through marginal increases in taxes! Woo!
