Fantastic interview. Everyone should read it:
Hope we don’t have to wait until his birthday in October for Mandelson to be arrested
Fantastic to see my Mini Switzerland idea covered by the BBC.
It captures so many people’s imaginations because it’s both obvious, simple and yet - from where we are today - unspeakably radical.

How is this legal?
Jonathan Haidt on r4 now prattling in about mobile phones. Such an amateur fucking social scientist. Why have so many fallen for his puerile analysis of the impact of mobiles/sm on kid’s health?
"The essential point is that money will always find weaknesses to exploit. This is what the Epsteins of this world understand." - fantastic column by @robertshrimsley.bsky.social:
Jeffrey Epstein emailing Peter Thiel: Finding things on their way to collapse was much easier than finding the next bargain. ... Return to tribalism. Counter to globalization. Amazing new alliances.
Definitely seems like they destroyed the country on purpose.
Private equity draining money out of the children in care sector while failing children should be a national scandal. observer.co.uk/news/nationa...
Ian Austin, an Army veteran, was arrested for protesting ICE in Minneapolis. But he’s continued protesting. Senior reporter @julialurie.bsky.social spoke to him.
“When they say, ‘Why would you be out here?’ How the fuck could I not be out here?” he says. “My nation is under attack."
brass solidarity band performing “stand by me” in the streets of whittier next to alex pretti’s memorial. the crowd started chanting “the people united will never be defeated” so they incorporated it into the song. i love minneapolis
martyr means witness.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators filling the streets with signs and banners
Demonstrators as far as the eye can see. Current status of the march in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota for Ice Out of Minnesota. They are turning onto 3rd Street from 5th Avenue.
Why are they doing a Q&A? Was there a topic that wasn’t covered in that speech?
There should be fines for people who stand in front of the doors when there are empty seats. And I should be allowed to give them out.
Part of the thing that saved Coventry was community groups coming together and buying buildings to save them from being knocked down
Or there’s X, the website formerly known as Twitter. Its owner is committed to removing the government, and seems keen to encourage violence on Britain’s streets. Now its 2026 update lets users create what are politely called “sexualised images” of anyone, including children. A Secretary of State for Culture, if Britain had one, could take a view on whether this was a welcome development. They could, if they had been appointed and went into work every day, offer Starmer advice on whether X should be one of the government’s main channels of communication, effectively supporting a site that produces on-demand pornography of real people including, let’s say it again, children.
If the UK government had a Culture Secretary, that person would be in a position to take a view about whether child porn on demand was a good thing, or a bad thing. thecritic.co.uk/brin...
This is a great piece. Obviously as a charity person I enjoyed the history of the Henry Smith Foundation but I also love a dodgy landlord getting his rewards
100% agree with this. Never understood why people tell their children that all their presents come from Santa.
How investors plunder the care system: the owners of the children’s homes company Your Chapter have paid themselves £11 million in dividends this year.
“When they are defending their liberal democracy, they are in fact defending ours as well.”
ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus shares a Christmas message with #Newsnight and says that the Ukrainians “deserve all the support they can have from us.”
Russia sends stolen Ukrainian children to North Korea to become militarized.
Also they’ve been trying to sell it for over a year, so I’d argue it’s not actually worth £2m
I’m so excited it’s finally Budget Day after months of speculation!
If you need me, tap me on the shoulder. I’ll be happily working all day listening to this on a loop.
This is just funny. southwarknews.co.uk/news/news-pl...
No! Just put them up and put us out of our misery
This is really sad, QEF is a charity that has helped a few people I know. It’s very tough for charities right now. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
It’s funny that the BBC is in a fight for its life as it starts BBC Children in Need week. Radio 2 is dedicating most of the week to this important fundraising activity. There are many reasons to fight to save the BBC.
This is great. I first heard of this when we were buying our house and the searches revealed it had been bought up by the council because it was going to be part of the Peckham ring way. So difficult to believe now that we wanted to be like an American city.
