And not a motorbike in sight!
Ruminations on motivation and expectation, more personal that of faith conviction, but no less real for that.

It’s real, this…
It had to happen: I had time to blog/publish something else today that I felt deserved to be out there, and now, faced with the "proper" blog, the Lenten discipline, I'm struggling. It may be the letter S today, but struggle was not the word I had in mind... There are many I could…
This is even more notable when the next entry in my feed is from @goatmajor.bsky.social !!
Good summary! Personally, I'm not sold on the system (of either edition) but I really like the setting (& have written a bit of my own material, strictly personal atm, for it).
4 today
There'll be a blog post later, too. The letter for the day is 'S'...
#GoodMorning! There's visible Sun & blue skies, I've drunk good #coffee & have a well-paying vocational post of low enough stress & little heavy lifting. Unpleasant dreams & poor sleep earlier not to be recommended, though & manifest in tiredness. Next, being available to make a positive difference!
Simple understandings lay the foundation for the deeper things of life, and as we continue of pilgrimage through Lent, why should faith not also contain mystery, revelation, and hidden joys?
The Letter Q…
Lent advances, and today we reach the Third Sunday in Lent. Technically today isn't actually bound by Lenten observance (count the days between Ash Wednesday and Easter and you'll find there are too many, over the forty duration, if you include Sundays) but I blogged the last two and…
That's a win... and a double header to boot!
Not that I'm aware of. Though the woman at the well was a foreigner.
Well, #GoodMorning all! Tiring & rather inspiring day yesterday & another one ahead of monotone sky, & keeping the ship of faith afloat. E'en so, onwards... More #coffee, vicar?
Perseverence, and cheating!
It's been busy, working & then stopping. Mercifully, there's a saint to remember today. She deserves better than my simple repeat of the Collect, but being remembered for a martyr's death 1,823 years ago means she and her companions have, and will, far outlive me! The…
Even better if I could so spelling & grammar!
I should that there was also purposeful shouting too! "Mind you backs please! Parkrunners coming through!" Can't beat a good bit of shouting!
#GoodMorning! This Chaplain, Dad, salutes you! Full day ahead, to feature #coffee, uni Applicant Visit Day & the need to shout vainly into the Void (via blog*) that, for now at least, I exist!
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
(*other forms of vain & futile communication are available. )
The Vocative, where the letter of the day is most often found, "O".
#GoodMorning all! Grey skies, crossed by mournful seagulls, are not quite the expected follow-up from yesterday's hints of Spring. Nevertheless, there's joy to be found in #coffee & the anticipation of good ahead, despite tiredness (& a full weekend to come). So, onwards!
Quiet moments, this Spring-like day, prompt movement, walk, brief, from desk, from site, through park, car keyfob battery to replace. A wait, drink, to kill time, work phone to hand, email checking. Continents & archipelagoes, crema-formed, drift on flat, black #coffee world.
Sometimes the emphasis on humanity as "miserable sinners" is so gloomy and depressing, but the opportunity to recognise our needs of grace, healing, and forgiveness (including forgiving ourselves rather than giving and receiving the same with others) should not be passed by.
Because at the end, it's not about us, about me, but something far bigger. Legacy. Destiny. Divinity.
I think it did a reasonable job, considering, though Mark Galeotti's Eurosource was better. I still have a copy of the former, but not the latter, which is a shame.
A snapshot of handwriting, artfully on the slant. It shows a partial list of dates, appearing to begin at 2027, and fragments of annotations, 'Shrove Tuesday". "Eid", "Faith Week". What's the betting I'll totally forget about this?
Still time to say #GoodMorning, to recount the cooked breakfast to revive a rather cold & tired Chaplain, & good #coffee to boot. It must have worked, for I may have a Cunning Plan! (Caution: involves long term thinking. Not one of my strengths..)
For the record: blogged yesterday, but rather late.
Another day, another letter
It is late. Various words have flown across my mind, relating to greater or lesser degrees to Life, Faith, or Role-playing Games. There's been Home, or Hope, or Hero, or Holy.. All have potential, pedigree. All have space for theological depth, exploration & reflection.…
#GoodAfternoon! On Pop-Up #Coffee Stop duty, in a quiet location. If nothing else then time to think about the blog word (to begin with H. I have ideas. I may even start to write the piece.. or not, as the case may be). In the meantime, though world be plagued & wounded, carry on & shed light.
An unlikely inclusion and a welcome beyond expected boundaries of identity and people.
#GoodAfternoon all. Unfamiliar mature students wander into Common Room, smiles within, even as sunlight smiles outwith, painting day beautiful. I sit, notebook to hand, trolley for dispensing free hot drinks, close. Spring approaches, even if punters don't yet. Blog word known, writing to follow!
