The ME Office was faulted in 2017 for failing to issue timely autopsy reports in 58% of cases.

Those stats had improved by their more recent audit, but here we are again, in a case involving allegations of significant public wrongdoing, with that deadline unmet...

It has been *92 days* since Shacoby Kenny was killed by COs at the South Bay jail in a brutal assault and there is still no final autopsy report from the Medical Examiner.

His family and community deserve answers and public acknowledgment. #AllEyesOnSouthBay #ShutDownSouthBay #bospoli #mapoli

Interestingly, when I requested this information from @massgovernor.bsky.social's office, I was directed to the DOC. That suggests the governor isn't reviewing these numbers and doesn't actually know how many people she's turning over to ICE or what (if anything) they've been convicted of.

ICE DOES NOT LOVE JUSTICE, BUT THEY LOVE MASSACHUSETTS COURTS.
POLICE
In 2025, federal immigration agents visited our courts over and over, resulting in over 250 kidnappings. That's almost 20% of all ICE detentions reported in the state, and probably an undercount.

WHY
COURTHOUSES?
ICE loves our courts because they make it easy for ICE to kidnap our neighbors.
ICE isn't forbidden from our courts like they are in other states, and the only thing our courts require before they hand someone over to ICE in handcuffs is an "immigration detainer"— a document ICE writes for itself.
This can happen before the person is ever convicted of a crime, or even after the charges are dismissed.

WHAT A COURT ABDUCTION LOOKS LIKE:
ICE learns someone they've targeted for deportation is going to be at a
courthouse, as a defendant, witness, or family member
ICE comes to the courthouse and watches for their target, intimidating vulnerable people seeking justice
Their target, one of our neighbors, is kidnapped in the lobby or from the street
outside
or, if they were in state custody but should be released by the Court, gets handed to ICE directly by court officers.

This is a great overview from LUCE about how ICE is targeting immigrants in Massachusetts courtrooms. I have seen this firsthand and it's critical that we stop it.

If anyone is curious to see the yearly data on Massachusetts transferring state prisoners to ICE custody through the 287(g) program, here is the letter I received yesterday from the state’s DOC. This is data that the DOC spent months trying to withhold before finally sharing it yesterday.

Inside ICE’s Only Contract with a Blue State - Bolts As part of a 287(g) contract between state officials and ICE, Massachusetts continues to release prisoners into deportation—even as state lawmakers look to ban other forms of ICE collaboration.

Why should you care that Massachusetts transfers so many people with felony convictions to ICE?

I tried to answer that question here: boltsmag.org/massachusett...

The data I've just obtained shows that the Massachusetts prison system has sent more than 2,000 people directly into ICE custody since 2009. It's facilitated between 78 and 172 prison-ICE transfers every year. Governor Maura Healey and leading Democratic lawmakers say they support this program.

In August, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Department of Correction told me that the state prison system transferred 164 people into ICE custody in 2023 and 2024.

I filed a records request seeking data for other years besides 23-24, since the state has been working with ICE long before 2023.

The Massachusetts Department of Correction has been fighting me for months, trying to withhold data about its collaboration with ICE.

Yesterday, I won that fight, and obtained records showing that the state has transferred more than 2,000 people into ICE custody since 2009.

Also Judge Krupp found Gero not credible during a 2021 motion to suppress (i.e. he lied on the stand).

Police Body Cameras: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO) YouTube video by LastWeekTonight

Oliver takes a dump on the Schumer-led Democratic demands after Alex Pretti’s shooting — “masks off, body cams on” — noting the killers had fucking body cams on, that that footage exists, that it didn’t change shit, and that we’re likely never to see it b/c they were exonerated automatically.

We’ve spent the last 2 years “right-sizing” (closing) Boston Public Schools, because enrollment dropped.

Anyone think there will ever be an effort to “right-size” the BPD, given the low crime rates in the city?

Commissioner Cox overturns sustained Internal Affairs findings against *these very officers* (www.bostonglobe.com/2023/10/24/m...) & is getting sued for retaliating when an employee tried to expose BPD fraud (www.boston.com/news/local-n...).

The City knows what he does. The State knows what he does. And we keep paying Danilecki hundreds of thousands of dollars to assault marginalized people and hide behind a badge.

When the law passed, legislators said POST would *end police misconduct* in Massachusetts. Lol.

The system tells families of homicide victims to put all their stock in prosecution & punishment as a measure of justice. And then, when cases remain unsolved years later, they are left bereft, resentful, and without basic answers on the truth of what happened to their loved one. #mapoli #bospoli

"Between fiscal years 2023 and 2025, only the Nantucket County Sheriff’s Office and the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office stayed within their annual budget appropriations, investigators wrote."

… it’s also the only state where a state-level agency, so one under the control of the governor (@massgovernor.bsky.social) is contracted with 287g: boltsmag.org/massachusett...

Police drug tests are notoriously unreliable. They got this man wrongly charged with trafficking fentanyl. Roughly 30,000 people every year may be getting wrongfully arrested because of unreliable field drug tests, according to one estimate.

One more plug for my latest investigative story: I got body cam footage of a guy being wrongfully arrested for fentanyl after cops tested his prescription IBS medication using notoriously unreliable field kits.

It took him a year and a half to get the charges dropped reason.com/2026/02/23/h...
