I wanted to have a visual representation of a fictional military unit that’s in one of my stories. Not quite perfectly to scale, but I do like how the horses came out, haha. This is the personal Battalion of a Princesse of Normandie using modified Napoleonic tactics.

[Panel 2] Suddenly, the parents turn their head away from the phone as something catches their attention. [Panel 3] “Sorry, Atsuko. We have to leave, there is an event about to start we signed up for.” Akito takes the phone closer to his face as he tries to wrap things up. [Panel 4] “We’ll call you later.” He concludes as his wife shoves herself in front of the screen “Don’t get yourself in too much trouble. And make a good Kagari impression in that household!” She excitedly adds.

[Panel 5] And the call ends, leaving Akko and Diana facing the phone wallpaper of their group friend all dirty and hugging after saving the world from the missile (Akko did her best to organize all her apps in the little amount of free space she had to not ruin the photo), the two of them at the center of this picture, wide smiles on their faces. [Panel 6] Akko puts away her phone and feels the whiplash of Diana meeting her parents. Cringing, she immediately tries to apologize “Sorry that they were bothering you with all these questions.” Diana also feels somewhat out of the water here and presents excuses back. “Not at all, I’m sorry for agreeing without thinking.”

[Panel 7] Akko waves her hand dismissively to try to reassure Diana. “Ah, nah, don’t worry about it. They probably didn’t really mean it, so you don’t have to worry about that. They like messing with me.” [Panel 8] “...Right.” Diana scratches her neck in discomfort, the possibility she was the only one giving a serious thought on it is… bothering her.

[Panel 9] Akko springs up and stretches, glad this conversation comes to its end. “Well, now that that’s done…” [Panel 10] “...you think Anna has lunch already ?” she says, not even waiting for an answer from the still sitting Diana to walk towards the manor, followed by her loyal canine companion. [Panel 11] Diana lovingly scratches her dog’s ears, with a bittersweet expression on her face. Oh well, what can she do about it ?

[Panel 2] The dogs, energized, are running around, playing together in the yard… There’s one dog too many however. [Panel 3] “Akko !” Diana shouts again, catching the attention of the strange new mutt; it seems like a certain witch was having fun ! [Panel 4] She sprints to Diana’s foot, adding a little “Hey !” as she lands in front of her. [Panel 5] In a poof of magic, she metamorphoses back to her usual, but still very cheerful, self. “Did everything go well with her ? What did she want ?” she excitedly asks.

[Panel 6] Diana, her arms crossed, wearily answers her query with a complete report. “She informed me we will have a diplomatic dinner party and wanted me to tell you you’re mandatorily invited.” “Oh” Akko replies, disappointed and quite annoyed by her new obligation. “Is it serious ? I don’t think I have anything formal to wear. Who’s coming, the Queen ?” She finishes on this snarky remark. [Panel 7] “Worse. The Hanbridges.” She answers too seriously, too irritated to take the joke. [Panel 8] “Oh, I haven’t seen Andrew in a while !” A smile lightens her face, Akko takes the news much better than her.

[Panel 9] She lifts a finger to her face as she starts thinking about him. “I heard he graduated, wonder what he’s up to.” Diana awkwardly scratches her neck, bothered by the turn this conversation is taking. “You… haven’t been in contact with him ?” She asks, unsure of what she’s expecting. “Nope, last time I saw him was at my flying thing.” [Panel 10] Diana quietly sighs to herself, feeling just a little relieved about it. [Panel 11] “Why are they coming though ?” Akko keeps quizzing.

[Panel 12] “My aunt thinks we can rebuild the relationship that took a hit when they came here last time.” She explains. While the two of them are busy with such complicated matters, the dogs freely play around. “And she has a secret weapon to do that.” “Oh, really ? What is it ?” [Panel 13] “You.” She simply answers, leaving Akko anxiously expecting her invitation to the party to be quite more demanding than she initially thought.

Dogakko was so fun but I think Diana's reaction to Andrew is my favorite part lol What other animal should she turn into?
