In a response to questions posed about the orders last week, the refinery responded today to say all repairs to the CO boiler (the culprit of many of the emissions cited here) were completed in June 2025.
During a diversity roundtable last month at the National Press Club, the Rev. Benjamin F. Chavis Jr., president and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Association, gave shocking news on the state of the Black press on the eve of its bicentennial. "We all have felt the damp hands of oppression and suppression over the last 12 months," said Chavis, whose trade association represents more than 200 African American-owned community newspapers. "I'm going to be very honest: We've lost advertising revenue 80% over the last 12 months."
Even compared to the dire state of the newspaper business in general, Black newspapers in particular are getting fucking hammered.
“I don't see any plan, any strategy, any end game,” says Pat Parenteau, a professor of environmental law at the University of Vermont. “I don't see anything from this administration, just fuck everything up as much as you can. You can print that.”
