@mrsball.bsky.social Hi Rachel. Iβm eager to read your book when it is released here in Australia. Do you have any thoughts or posts on scaffolding for students with a diagnosed learning disorder?
Great suggestion. Thanks. Turns out @mrzachg.bsky.social did a podcast episode about this earlier in the year (that I missed)
Can anyone direct me towards some reading I can do around the scaffolding of tasks, when to remove the scaffold (if ever)? I thought we wanted to scaffold with a view to working towards independence? Thoughts? @suchmo83.bsky.social @mrzachg.bsky.social
One of my most anticipated #books of the year has arrived, all the way from Australia. If youβve not read Jane Rawson yet, you should.
It's half term, which means I have a copy of Primary Reading Simplified to give away.
Simply *repost* this post for your chance to win.
I will choose a winner at random this Saturday (22nd February).
I am horrified by the environmental impacts. No one seems to be talking about this in the education sphere.
Every year, the World Economic Forum at Davos reports on the consensus of risks facing the world.
In the short-term, it's DISINFORMATION.
Long-term, it's CLIMATE CHANGE.
And, guess what, they're linked!
Although the news isnβt βgoodβ, it makes me feel a little less insane to hear it delivered by someone who isnβt taking their standing orders from a bloodthirsty billionaires. Thank you, @samsacks.bsky.social and the entire team at @means.tv.
This was a hoot to record.
I am a teacher who sees the benefits of AI for education, but I am deeply concerned about its environmental impacts. Anyone else feeling this?

This is good to know, Chris. I have finally quit Twitter for good. You have certainly been very helpful in that space for me over the past few years.
One of the things that keeps me going back to Twitter is that I get fairly regular DMs on there asking me for advice about reading.
Just to be clear: I am more than happy for people to DM on here for the same reason.
Please repost this if you think this info might be useful to someone.
Also, the idea that you donβt need maths in your day to day life is bogus. We are forever calculating.
Just had my first nap of the school holidays. Now back to my holiday reading. I will also read some non-school related material.
Is it necessary to get the second edition if you own the first edition? What am I missing?
Look what you bumped down to #2!!

2. Street fund raiser (chugger)

Tasmanian teacher here who loved your podcast and keen to get my hands on your book when itβs released in Australia.
If a standardised test indicates an increase in spelling age from the previous test, would you communicate that to parents? I am trying to work out which information to include in an updated learning plan.
Thanks. My feeling is it gives a rough sense of development. Iβd had heard that reporting them in learning plans is not encouraged. I just want to learn a bit more about it. What is a better measure? Or just noting which GPCs are sticking?
@suchmo83.bsky.social do you know much about spelling ages and their usefulness or otherwise?
