Exciting times and looks great. Hope you're keeping well Paul, I can't believe it's been a year already?!
Love this! I've long wanted to make an experience filled with these. Am sure you know of it already but Novelty Automaton is worth a visit too for a similar feel. www.novelty-automation.com
Pleased to see Cosmos Unseen: Black Holes release into the world as part of the launch line up for the Samsung Galaxy XR.
Bit of a dream project to work on, exploring the mysterious beauty of black holes. Plus an opportunity to meet some prolific voices in astrophysics and bring their work to life.
Glad you found a solution. Iβll look into the dithered transparency thing as curious now! Shader graph is definitely worth a play too, even just to setup some simple custom shaders with the options you need.
Definitely a frustrating issue with the default URP shaders. I found a way to make it sort when attempting a foliage shader though - think the depth part on the graph inspector here shows the setting but I'm a little out of my depth(!) with why it seems to work.
Thanks for sharing! Fascinating to see what techniques youβre using to keep it all looking so pretty and running like a dream. So from that it seems youβre choosing to render with SRP rather than URP. Interesting!
Congrats! Fascinated to know more about this if you ever share details outside of GDC.
Theyβre such a pain! Bakery and its Light Volume solution was a life changer for me. Takes the pain away with some shader tweaks plus you gain some great semi-fake shadows.
Great news Paul! Hope all goes well and you settle in OK.
Came down to cost! Taking a while to break my muscle memory with the navigation/shortcuts/tools but I can appreciate how much fresher Blender feels. Missing Mayaβs UV tools though. Blenderβs donβt make sense to me yet.
2025 is looking up since the layoffs at Maze Theory/Saltwater Games back in December.
About time to push up a new portfolio so drop me a line if you're in need of any Creative/Game Direction or Prototyping on XR/VR/MR projects.

He lived inside a dream and his creations will live eternally inside mine. Rest well Mr Lynch.
Gap in the market right there - make it happen?!
In fact - that looks like a knock off of the original one by MaterialImmaterial.... www.etsy.com/uk/listing/8...
In real life? Yes! Crack that wallet open as there's only one left...
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke is a perfect example of this. You follow the explorations of the narrator as they unravel a mystery of a wonderous building - all written in diary entry form. Like unravelling someone's dream.
After using Maya for nearly 20 years, seems as good a time as any to start learning something new again... *gulp* wish me luck!?
Seeing Meta's Best of 2024 lists certainly cheered me up this morning. INFINITE INSIDE making it into the Best Puzzle Games is a real honour and proud to be in such great company with @humanitygame.bsky.social @enhance-exp.bsky.social & #SchellGames
You were releasing super early in the Oculus days right?
Loved when Oculus/Meta sent these to developers to celebrate launching a game. Like a tactile achievement.
Thank you! Itβs progressing well so should be ready soon.
@henrystockdale.com would love to join in too. Iβm game director on Infinite Inside which we announced a new level for last night at the VR Awards. youtu.be/dSSiITscZ_0?...
Great list - definitely checking out Clickolding as sounds fascinating.
The Under Presents still stands as a great example of what an immersive virtual world can be. Transference - my first time being terrified in VR. Also Blocked In and the dioramas of Daniel Ernst are wonderful places to just be inside.

Made it into EDGE magazine a few issues back. Bit of a life goal since I've been reading since the first issue 30 odd years ago. Thankfully they didn't do a full review π€£
New platform.Twitter was becoming a fucking horrorshow.
