I now realized Donald Trump lied to me when he said he wouldn't start regime change wars in the Middle East. But we need to stick with him to fight against children identifying as cats and using litter boxes in school classrooms.

This work you're doing is good and necessary, and I thank you β€οΈ
Day two of not seeing this reported anywhere reputable. MAGA friend is pretending he didn't say that, and I misunderstood.
Most accurate portrait of modern culture currently available
MAGA Friend is telling me that Netenyahu's brother died in a missile attack on Netenyahu's home and that the PM has fled the country. All I'm finding are some Indian and Pakistani fact checks saying this isn't true. Seems like it would be easily verified if it were and hard to conceal if not π€
I understand that there are a lot of folks on the left who instinctively recoil from religious language, and with good reason given its use by the right.
But please listen to this, and focus on how he's trying to realign "Christian values" so they align with and advance progressive policy goals.

QQ for educators: If an instructor wants to provide video feedback on assignments in Canvas, does that video feedback need to be captioned, if it is 1:1 with a student, not archived or publicly available?
Boebert: Have you reviewed any Epstein files that were released that you believe reference or relate to those specific 2016 claims regarding the Podesta emails Comet ping pong pizza used as code possibly.
Clinton: Pizzagate was totally made up. I can't believe you're even referencing it

And almost always there's an appeal to hate/anger/fear, with this emotionality driving an immediate response that bypasses critical thinking. We saw a lot of this in the State of the Union this week too.
Conspiracy adjacent spaces seem to have some common plays that can be seen here: a focus on entertainment, making audiences feel that theyβre insiders who are learning why the outgroup they hate is so awful, and a reliance on innuendo/phrasing to make things harder to debunk.
Interesting how this scandal involves for real some false claims made about Covid origin:
- doing abroad with US funds research not allowed in the US
- skipping the evaluation process and having approval straight at the director office
As if false accusations were indeed admissions of intent
Just heard about this. There's a rash of right wing contrarians claiming time travel is real lately.
These people get to a certain threshold of delusion that cannot be reasoned with no matter how poor the outcome is or who is affected and those of us in healthcare see this with other preventable illnesses like COVID and influenza and it's really hard not to suffer burnout from it.
I've felt for a while that MAGA/MAHA are trying to push Trump out for Vance, accelerated by Thiel and others like him. I look at what's happening with MAGA friend and Epstein in his news sources and I see Trump and his cronies framed to take the fall, Vance installed, and everything swept away.
Conspiracies also block real action, because if the enemy is an unbeatable cabal, then you can stay outraged forever without having to do the slow, boring work of actual reform.
Itβs psychologically easier to say βThose are satanic elitesβ than βA normal man with power and opportunity abused children, and other normal people enabled it.β Conspiracies let people keep their group and themselves pure.

I have a couple friends who claim this is not merely Covid, but the vaccine destroying immune systems. I know it's bonkers, but how do you counter that?

Weird convo with MAGA friend as always. Told him about the Friday protest here near me has more than doubled in size since December, just to rile him up. He said "bet they'd hate it if pro Palestinian ppl joined in." I said I was sure they're already there. He said he doubted Soros would allow it.
