Everything we know from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the US, is that if kids play sport, they’re about half as likely to have attempted suicide in the last year.”
A promo quote for Her Name Is Alice ‘A mother-daughter love story about fighting a world stacked against you. Brilliant and super relevant.’ INDIA WILLOUGHBY
Paperback out today.
Just in time for Mother’s day.
Not all mothers want chocolates or hand lotion. Mothers are more than lavender soap and talc. More than sauvignon blanc and flowers.
And some need a kick up the backside.
Go on. You know you want to.

They'll say the "skyrocketing" rates of patient referrals substantially decreased and then use that as a point to argue that it was all a social contagion. All the trans youth just swept under the rug along with evidence of their suicides and self-harm. Just a completely bleak fucking system.
The new gender clinics they spun up after Tavistock are functionally useless. They're glorified conversion therapy centers because they offer no pathway towards medical transition. Once trans people stop going and the patient numbers decrease, they'll declare "mission accomplished."
I will have to ask him directly.
no thanks
It wouldn’t but still, it got my goat
Telling that this article is written by a BBC social affairs editor and not their health editor.
The BBC thinks being trans is a social contagion problem QED
Just leave it to the women, lads
I’m looking forward to the full page spread where the health secretary applauds me for channeling my "unimaginable grief" into "lasting change" so that “each and every family gets the compassionate care they deserve." *

Parents of trans people and their kids don’t count.
Do we actually know how many times he’s met them?
It’s so shit Melissa. Are you aware of @transparentaction.bsky.social ‘s parent pledge.

Share in your networks. The more parent signatories we have the more damning it will prove for a government who continue to ignore supportive parents and centre transphobic ones.
Today's ban on NHS HRT for under 18s formalises a policy that has already been in place - Noone under 18 has received a new prescription for HRT since mid 2024 (I don't know of any since late 2023).
Of course this policy also raises the risk of similar action on private healthcare for under 18s.
On International Women’s Day a reminder that my Alice had a mother and a sister and grannies, aunts, girl friends and girl cousins.
They all loved her as a woman.
When the transphobes say they speak for all women and are protecting women and girls, they are wrong.
I may have a spare ticket if cost is an issue. DM me.
That’s the point. Even if he didn’t set out to be transphobic he has been and he’s not listening to trans people now. He wrote as if he knows best, suggesting trans people do stuff they’ve been doing for eons, as if they haven’t, and only his wisdom can save them from themselves. It’s horrible.
I tend to disagree. He’s been called out by the trans community and is doubling down. He’s harming trans people by speaking over them this way, whilst thinking he’s being kind.
I have seen about this case before, but today, it’s just caught me and left me weeping. It’s just so horrible.
Keep plodding on, as you say❤️
I had post viral fatigue for ~ 6 months after COVID in 2020. The physical reaction in my body after Alice died, felt (and can continue to feel) very similar. And your daughter isn’t able to escape this additional stimulus because society is fundamentally traumatising for trans people. I am sorry.
I’m sorry your daughter can’t make it. But glad you can. Message me if you want to chat xxx
Trauma shows up in the glimpse
of a child holding its mother’s hand, in a turn of phrase, the lyrics of a song, in something discovered at the back of a drawer, it shows up in the pages of a book, the scenes of a film, it shows up at the gym and in the dead of night. It’s always ready to pounce.
I’m looking forward to this. A few tickets still available.
OK, just seen your other posts. All looks lighthearted. Whilst still being a bit grim. 🩷
Oh no. Accidentally or are things bad? I am sorry either way. I’m hoping it’s the former of course. I’m often taking tablets more often than I should because I forgot if I already did. Or not taking them enough for the same reason.
Hope you are looked after well and get what you need x
And when you make mistakes…which we all do…you own them.
I know nothing about Lakshya Jain beyond this🧵
Going to take a wild guess, he 💯 thinks he’s a fab trans ally.
He 💯 is not.
And now he’s mad at trans people for being ungrateful.
Good rule of thumb for trans allyship - wanting trans people to welcome your efforts should be your top priority.
Funny haha or funny peculiar?
A messy workspace. Boxes, books, bags, photos, clothes strewn about. I knocked a letter sorter thing, off the desk when I was in a hurry several days ago, and the contents remain strewn on the floor even though I have to step over them to get to my seat. It wouldn’t be so bad but Alice’s order of service lies amongst the debris. A metaphor for my life.
That looks super tidy to me and a space I would be proud of. This is tidy for me. And I hate it but at the same time consistently fail to do anything about it. Alt text has more detail.
