I don't live there at the moment but what Premier Houston is doing to the NS arts community is stupid. The size of the tax base is an issue, but his short sighted cuts will keep people like me from moving there/back home and growing the tax base.

I liked his tv series that was shot here in Vancouver at first but even before the serious allegations came to light I heard from crew persons he treated PAβs like garbage. I stopped watching his show b/c that is such a litmus test for me as to whether youβre a good person or not.

I know this isn't a big sports app, but while watching Sweden v USA men's hockey when the commentator says Jack Hughes, it very much sounds to me like "J'accuse!" and that delights me.
If only the Toronto Maple Leafs could get a clutch, big game player like Mitch Marner they may finally get over the hump. Plus, I think he's a Toronto kid so it'd be perfect, what a shame. π
With that tying goal Nick gains some ground on David in the great Canadian Suzuki rankings. Go π¨π¦ Go!!
If Bill Murray's character in Caddyshack raised a child with Bob & Doug MacKenzie I imagine that kid's accent would turn out like this caller.
Have a quick listen, it's an outstanding accent:

Heartbreaking, and shocking news out of BC.

The Catherine O'Hara news is gutting. How bright she shines in my mind, and with everything else going on in the world, what a reprieve it has been to scroll through the hundreds of clips and memories of her people have been sharing. In her closing words from the 2010 games, "Goodbye, safe home."

AI can be a useful tool, & I recognize CGI has long eliminated bg acting jobs from large group scenes with stamping etc but this feels different.
Use AI to improve your show or film, great, but not to make it. If you want to make animation, make animation and leave live action alone
I have made a career in the film and television industry. Change is as inevitable as it is constant, but let's not facilitate AI domination from within the filmmaking community.
Not to mention the communities that lose out of housing, feeding, local jobs, location rental fee's, permit fee's, etc. in support of the film/series. That's some bullsh*t Time Studio's and Darren Aranofsky.
This is masquerading as live action done using animation workflow framework, and by doing so, it's culpable for eliminating 90% of the workforce normally used for a live action series like this.
Using union actors does not make up for the harm this does. Nor does representing photo realistic imagery as animation.
Animation is different than live action films, in part, because we all buy the conceit going in.
Haven't posted in a bit, so let me first say, F**k ICE and all its collaborators.
This series is terrible; I will never watch it, nor should YOU. Never mind the uncanny valley of it all, do you know how many jobs this takes away? I admire Mr. Aranofsky, which makes this more disappointing.

Super fascinating reporting by @portmoodypigeon.bsky.social, with more to come
He played this song at an event I was at this past fall and I was floored. Out of body experience.
This is my favorite vid of it, vocals start at 2:45, and the two guys in the background to the very left are worth watching on the rewind.

My follow-up: Right, but your boss skipped that pesky investigation and declared the victim a domestic terrorist, and said he brandished a weapon. So now you need an investigation to determine facts? Will you disown her comments as the investigation is still pending?
This is awesome, congrats young man. It's also national news. Canada is hilarious and I love my country π¨π¦.
Follow up: How many highly trained and effective ICE agents are needed to deal with one prone, chemically blinded man to maintain their feelings of safety?
In a developing story: Canadian social media management company @hootsuite.com says MURDER does not violate their terms and conditions. We'll stay tuned to see if their continued unabashed support for state inflicted terrorism will proceed without recourse from their valued customer base.
Drop the names of any Canadian companies youβve seen working with ICE in the comments.
Iβm aware of Gardaworld, Roshel, Hootsuite.
Would love to gather any and all other names.
One of my little nephew's favourite musical artist's is @raffic.bsky.social. I listened to him as a child too, and while I knew it in my heart, seeing him be so vocally anti-fascistm anti-ICE is awesome. Stick taps to Raffi and all the children's educators and entertainers calling this out.
People are crazy thread. #StaySafeOutThere
Another example from today of "we have a framework where Vancouver is getting worse all the time".
You'd never guess which city ranked 4th in Canada, and which one ranked 8th.
