What are you talking about? I have stated MULTIPLE times throughout this thread that I am engaging in any and all means of resistance of which I am capable. You, again, have wrongly presumed this is the extent of the actions I am taking.
I'm trying by using EVERY means I can conceive of, including any which might have less effect than others. If the petition does nothing, so be it. I would be remiss to forego ANY action at my disposal. Unfortunately, that doesn't include physical action. So here I am, giving everything a shot.
You seem to be laboring under the delusion that is the only action I have taken, which is both presumptuous and erroneous.
Some perhaps. In my case, I was the only daughter of a Christian Evangelical Pastor, so I've been comfortable fighting bullshit since I learned to talk. #blacksheep
On the contrary, you seem to have not gotten me at all.
My friend is unfortunately in Oregon and I am in Pennsylvania. We are continually discussing what each of us can do. My struggle is a drop in the overall bucket to the many also in this position, and I am fighting as hard for each of them as I am for myself.
Ok, so here's something I'd like to put out there.
Can we be mindful of the fact that not everyone has the same ability to resist in the same way?
Instead of presuming someone else's means of resistance is inadequate, could we just keep encouraging one another to fight as best we're able?
If it is what is within their repertoire right now, it's better than sitting the whole thing out. And honestly, I think it's pretty presumptuous to assume that those inclined to sign petitions do nothing else to resist. 1 of the 1st to sign was my able-bodied bestie who protests her ass off.
Like....supporting a petition? Some of us, as you said, are doing the best we are able to fight back, which is why it bothers me so much to see the means at my personal disposal being decried as somehow inadequate.
Engaged in every way that I can be online & off, one being this petition. Your continued discouragement of doing anything that MIGHT help is disheartening & that you didn't even factor people in my position into your original post just feels a lot like ableist punching down. We're trying too!!!
Has it occurred to you that some people are INCAPABLE of physical presence? As someone largely house & often bed bound, what do you think I have to offer in terms of physical presence? I collapsed on a 5 second run into the store for milk last week. So now what? I should just stfu & die?
The image is a screenshot of a post on X by a user named Pete Buttigieg (@PeteButtigieg ). The post reads: "Not getting much attention, but the Senate GOP is about to start voting - to make sure banks can charge higher overdraft fees. Seriously. Good time to let your Senators know what you think of that."
Keep the Congressional switchboard number handy these days: (202) 224-3121
I get what she's saying. However, I have yet to see any detriment in making the effort. I get it if you don't want to sign, but it's pretty narrow-minded to discourage those who would like their voices heard in this particular way alongside whatever else they're doing.
You are presuming that this is the only action taken. It in no way keeps people from further action. I think it's shortsighted to keep people from engaging in EVERY and ANY action they can. Also, we get that you won't sign, but I'm unsure why you think those who might want to sign need your okay?
Too many people sign a petition and pat themselves on the back for a job well done. Meanwhile, politicians won't even answer their phone or email much less show up for a town hall.
I'm not sitting down, and I'm not shutting up. Energies should be focused elsewhere.
Signatures are free. It costs no one anything to express the sentiment. As you said, it may have no effect. But yk what will CERTAINLY have no effect? Sitting down & shutting up. If you choose to naysay....say your nays, but I think that's a much greater waste of energy than a petition. π€·ββοΈ
Every tyrant in history has sought to stifle criticism of himself and his regime.
But America was founded on criticism.
American democracy was built on dissent.
Every institution, group, firm, or individual that surrenders to Trumpβs wanton tyranny invites more of it.
You also can't fire a politician by making calls to their office or attending protests. Do you think we should instead stand by in silence?
Further, I think the reality of seeing a big bloc of constituents calling for your resignation is far more impactful than a dry tally of calls from an aid.
Received another canned bullshit response from our duplicitous, disingenuous, millionaire Senator, Dave Mccormick.
Time for this treasonous sack of freeze-dried dogshit to resign!
DOGE is made up of criminals committing espionage.
Agreed....which is why we need to start demanding resignations of any reps supporting this treasonous coup. I hope you'll join me in signing this petition calling for just that: chng.it/JnCgPMzLjR
The Trump administration announced a sweeping plan Thursday to restructure the Department of Health and Human Services by cutting an additional 10,000 workers and closing down half of its 10 regional offices.

Thank you Kyle for pointing out ways the GOP purges voters - past, present and future.
And the role DOGE/ Leon Xitler will play in that plan.
