Was almost expecting the jolly postman round the corner. It was like I was in a children’s book or cartoon!

What an oddly wholesome run/walk! Said hello to dog who came for a sniff, a nice old couple let me pass, a little girl in a pushchair pointed at me (I think she liked my bright purple leggings) so I waved and said hello, then some material flew out of a builders’ truck so I grabbed it for them

My injured finger looks like Jacob Elordi in Frankenstein. Spectacular colours

I wish we lived in a time when the buccal fat removal trend was the worst thing happening. As it stands it’s only in the top 10

…ergo, J and H are not cultural characters of the moment

I wonder if it has anything to do with the tendency for binaries, one or the other, (this is thought in progress), a person must be good or evil, there is no in between, no ambiguity - literature students should of course be most comfortable w ambiguity, but current climate doesn’t allow for it…

I can’t remember the title or author just now (I can find it later) but have you read the piece likening Heathcliff to a terrorist? (We could read β€˜terrorist’ multiple ways). IIRC it’s good on race

Is this a red flag for anyone else?

Once again, my address information has clearly been sold on, because I’ve a named letter from Hello Fresh despite never using them and having no account.
How do I β€˜unsubscribe’ when I’ve never subscribed?!!! 😩
(I don’t think it has an address on to do RTS)

I had to stop drinking a whole load of spirits because of this 🀒 How are we even alive!!!

Thank you. I think it’s ok - it’s started hurting again, and I’ve full sensation in full finger, so I think that’s ok.

As long as no one goes into great detail about eyes, childbirth, or brain synapses I’m no where near as squeamish as I used to be.
But I’ve badly injured my finger and it’s nearly made me sick 🀒 It doesn’t even hurt that much after the initial contact, but that worries me more

I was meaning to seek out the soundtrack for this - thanks for flagging it

This is a big problem in NHS Scotland (possibly NHS wide). I’ve been invited for vax and then been grilled as to why I get it - having to give my medical history to a suspicious nurse. I know of many who have been refused. It’s so frustrating, and I’m sorry it added another burden to your day.

This is on my to read pile! Moving it higher up the list now

One of my red flags for something being written by AI is the use of β€˜quietly’, and it’s annoying because that’s one of my writing tics but used slightly differently

Must have loads of time to write when you don’t join union action

Moderation A bold and inventive novel about real romance in the vi…

I finally joined good reads for my reviews (though its usability is lacking, so don’t know if I’ll stick with it!)
Here’s a new review, of Elaine Castillo’s Moderation, which I’ve since realise has been longlisted for the Women’s Prize

Seeing ppl circulate projects whose NEH grants were canceled by DOGE reaffirms my argument about AI as a permission structure. Some grants were canceled w/o a β€œno” from the generated summary. DOGE had a mandate to slash humanities funding & AI gave them the veneer of a rationale for their actions.

I shared this via Not in Our Name’s petition sharing function. It’s sounds a bit like I’ve been involved, and I haven’t, just signed and support.
Maybe take a minute to sign too? It’s nearly at 100,000 signatures
