Excited to be producers on this important film, which premiers Wednesday at CPH:DOX

βIn the end, this isnβt simply a film about protest. It is about the stubborn human impulse to fight for a livable future. It is also about the odd mix of defiance, humor, and sheer determination it takes to do it.β
From this important conversation on the broken models and misconceptions causing corporate news to fail the public on the biggest story in the world.
"Some of these [news coverage] approaches in the context of climate change, I just don't think work anymore."
- @chasecain.bsky.social
"It started to really piss me off when I was told to keep going back to companies that have only lied to reporters for 40 years." - @emorwee.bsky.social
Meanwhile, the price remains unchanged of the 173,000 terawatts of the sun's energy (10,000 times more than humans use) that is continuously striking Earth at every moment.
Even though this is from the US, I want to stress the importance of why corporate concentration of media is brutal for climate coverage. Public broadcasting, along with community media provides the best bet to educate the masses. We need to invest in those more then ever.
The climate crisis is worse than ever
Climate coverage gets good ratings
So how do our Objective Journalists justify covering it less?
Aren't you glad Big Oil and corrupt politicians kept us on this hamster wheel for the last 50 years instead of transitioning to VASTLY more plentiful solar energy, available literally everywhere on Earth, and which we've been able to harness since the the solar panel was invented in 1884?
In 2025, broadcast TV climate coverage plummeted for the 3rd year in a row.
2022: 23 hours
2023: 17 hours - π25%
2024: 12 hours, 51 minutes - π25%
2025: 8 hours, 25 minutes - π35%
But hey, it's not like 2023, 2024, & 2025 were the 3 hottest years in recorded history by a lot. Nothing to see here!

A crucial conversation with inside insight into how and why corporate newsrooms are failing to cover the most important story on Earth.
Reggie Watts takes the sauna into the 4th dimension as we talk inequality, why he believes every problem is solvable, his prefered way to stop a mob hit, and much more. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hGC...
Reggie Watts: "Humanity is an operating system."
He's a singular talent for a reason, and he joined us in the sauna for a π€―β€οΈβπ₯π episode of Do You Even Care? Now live!
NEW: Five Oscar-nominated films have storylines dealing with climate change. That's the most ever.
"This is the world we live in. Filmmakers are experiencing climate change in their lives."
Here's the list, and why it's such a big deal: www.climatecoloredgoggles.com/p/climate-ch...
New issue of Current Affairs is out.
I have a piece (ph 32) about the impotent frustration of trying to communicate with each other and rally action during multiple emergencies with no functioning mainstream news.

All any parent can hope for our children is that, one day, they will host a comedic-yet-informative sauna-based chat show with the Attorney General of the biggest state in the US, who will tell to us why itβs ok our kid didnβt become an attorney. Right?!?

California @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov is suing Big Oil because they lied and broke the law. In the sauna, he shares the painful, personal repercussions for his family, (and all of ours, too):
We turned California's Top Cop into California's hottest cop, by putting him into a 150Β° sauna! Watch a very special episode of Do You Even Care? with Esteban Gast, featuring California Attorney General @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov!

"I've always wondered, like, these people have kids!?" - @agrobbonta.oag.ca.gov on appealing to the humanity of the greedy, lying Big Oil CEOs he's suing the crap out of.
Break Time.
It's Thursday and my fave new show just dropped.

Yes, we got the story of Disney star and comedian Joey Bragg's arrest. He tries to act tough in the sauna, but it turns out Joey does care about the authoritarian crackdown on peaceful protest.

Finally the βdoomerβ trope used against those expressing more alarm than the mainstream seems to be fading away. We are fully in this now.
Trump's lies vs. the last four weeks of extreme weather reality:
this u fam?
Yeah, sure is a bummer to have a president who makes us "less safe, less healthy, and less able to fight climate change" π€¨
1. Demand that candidates & electeds: -Pledge at nofossilfuelmoney.org -End oil and gas exports. -End the $35B /yr in subsidies to Big Oil. -Overturn Citizens United and get corporate & dark money out of politics. -Make fossil fuel and petrochemical companies pay the cost of their pollution. -Commit to a rapid phase out of oil, gas, and coal. Yes, to end this lethal industry. 2. Prepare to shut sh*t down if they refuse! - Get involved: yellowdotstudios.com/act
With so little time to put warming in check before collapse-level impacts set it, leaders who say they support climate action on one hand while actively encouraging the oil and gas industry with the other, are no better than those who sabotage the EPA outright.
Here are two things you can do:
The fossil fuel industry is a scam destroying vastly more wealth for many than it generates for a select few. Until our leaders truly recognize this, and act like it, we're cooked.
Chart: The explosion of fossil fuel industry election spending after citizens united. From 2009 - 2024 rose 6X.
And the fossil fuel industry is spending more money than ever to own our leaders and block pollution limits:
Nearly half a billion dollars in the last election cycle: $239M to elect pro-polluter candidates, and $245M lobbying congress against climate policy.
