What a fabulous night it was too. Still confused by the bouncers acting like they were patrolling a UK Subs gig in 1979…
They should put a monkey on the £50 note and a pony on the £10 note to confuse the hell out cockneys.

A still from the film Brief Encounter (1945). Laura (Celia Johnson) sits at a table in a railway station refreshment room with a cup of tea and a book. Celia Johnson’s daughter, Lucy Fleming, plays Miranda Elliott in The Archers.
Tracy: “Can I get you a cup of tea, Celia?”
Celia: “Thanks, but I just had one in the Hollerton Junction refreshment room. I’m just here to see my daughter, Miranda.” #TheArchers #BriefEncounter #CeliaJohnson
I really enjoyed this on being a cricket supporter (despite my belief that you can go to T20/Hundred matches and still appreciate the actual game). open.substack.com/pub/thecrick...
BBC Verify has analysed verified videos and satellite imagery that show severe damage to a hospital, sporting centres, a UNESCO world heritage site and two schools since US and Israeli strikes on Iran began on Saturday, as the number of civilian casualties grows.

LIke reading that Jarndyce v Jarndyce has been settled out of court. Can it really be true?
If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.
Disgraceful. I still have this. In other news, I can’t find my Tam Dalyell pamphlet about the sinking of the Belgrano which has become remarkably topical…
THE MINOR COUNTIES IN 1970 Having been runners-up in 1948, 1950 and last year, Betford. shire finally won the Minor Counties Championship for the first time in their 71 years history. With a well-balanced side led by J. Smith they went through the season unbeaten, winning six of their ten matches. A vast improvement in the batting led to Bedfordshire's success, particularly from R. Cox, who, opening the batting for the first time in his career, totalled 942 runs, easily beating the previous highest aggregate for the county. Lincolnshire, fifteenth last season, finished runners-up and were unlucky that rain interfered with many of their matches. G. Robinson again showed his form with the bat but the bowling lacked bite, with little support being given to Ramadhin's spin. Staffordshire had their most successful season for years and by finishing third qualified for the Gillette Cup competition for the first time. Nasim-ul-Ghani headed both the batting and bowling averages. Four batsmen scored centuries and R. T. Deville, their leg-spinner, took 53 wickets—the highest number taken by a county bowler for twenty years. Fine bowling by D. A. Bick and H. W. Tilly, who took 84 wickets between them, led Hertfordshire's challenge. Bick, in fact, was awarded his county cap together with H. B. Hollington, who started playing for the county when only sixteen and scored almost 200 runs more than any other player. Oxfordshire, beaten by Worcestershire in the first round of the Gillette Cup, failed narrowly to qualify for this year's competition. They finished equal on points with Hertfordshire but were forced to drop a place on the difference between the runs per wicket for and those per wicket against. The highlight of the season was the bowling performance of D. J. Laitt against Somerset II wen he took eight wickets for 35 and nine for 30-a Minor Counties record. On the batting side S. T. Hahn and M. D. Nurton featured in an unbroken opening stand of 212 the former registering hi…
I look forward to seeing the footage…no mention in the 1971 Wisden Minor Counties roundup. I’m more concerned with the former Kent and England keeper’s presence. Having read his autobiography and several anecdotes I suspect his usual motivation of ‘have a good time all the time’ might explain it.

THREAD: Misinformation in the Iran/US/Israel war - 3 March
This viral video claims to show the aftermath of a reported drone attack on the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, tonight.
But the video was posted last week to TikTok, and shows an unrelated car accident in Riyadh.
Here's the moment a tearful host on Iranian state TV confirms that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in US and Israeli air strikes.
The Iranian government has announced 40 days of mourning and a week-long holiday to mark Khamenei's death.
This whole vibe is 0.001% away from a The Day Today bit. Half expecting the pinball tables to cry for help.
Hello Ian, Joan Elizabeth Morris (nee Eaton) if you could please. Thanks as ever #mums26
There’s a website which will generate a suitably apocalyptic headline in the style of the hysteric Sunday Telegraph editor Allister Heath. You have to work very hard to generate an unlikely one. I’ve done my best … stirring-fox-7e1fab.netlify.app
