Interesting $GBX buys its steel from the US and exports it into Mexico then imports the cars back over.
Bet the tariff people didn't see that one coming
Godo $DNUT implications from $MCD
Certainly stuck out. Something has to be coming this week
If it's meant to feed an "external revenue service" shouldn't that be the domain of the House of Representatives?
Isn't the point of recurring tariffs, revenue? And therefore the House's domain? vs punitive tariffs where it's international relations and the president's?
Which are these?
These tariffs have introduced a lot of bad vibes to a market underwritten by good vibes.
With $LTH guiding leverage ratio the same for FY25 as current, but growing EBITDA 25%, $LTH either going to buyback stock, initiate a new effort, or perform fewer sale lease backs this year. Probably the first.
My sense is that this was a Decision without Sheryl. Bold, quick, and a huge finger to advertisers. The ones that $meta actually makes money from....and either the new norm is advertisers don't care where their company logo appears or this gets partially walked back.
Obviously a strong addition to $ptlo board. Now that $ptlo is financing its buildings very similar return metrics to opening a new Chipotle during their growthier phase. Shrunk restaurant footprint means can fit into similar box as well. Makes a lot of sense....
It's silly how much money $W is going to make from these fires. If a DC isn't burning, what a boon.
And US lumber. I mean jeez, have to use wood because of earthquakes, Trump is raising costs of Canadian lumber.
Which means home building supply distributers as well...the builders, I'm not sure.
It's more mad to write an article gaming out buying Greenland that it is to propose buying Greenland.
Its the same as my last one, but I'm splitting up content into different venues

The first microcap, I've written up.
Always appreciate any feedback.

Medicine & healthcare are national security issues....
We don't think of them that way for some reason.
Sounds like a Telco upset that media makes more money on their pipes than they do....not the winning hand...
For context, Belarusian potash is tariffed, Canadian Potash export taxed, but Russian potash - nothing.
Biden admin and Trump admin are part of the same comedy
But can it run android?
Baggy jeans and now this? My childhood is coming back. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/07/b...
To be clear $OMC and $IPG pretty clearly anticompetitive. They're going to have to create the number 1 and number 4 largest ad agencies out of this merger of the number 2 and number 4 largest ad agencies
Good morning Trump antitrust division.
$IPG and $OMC are going to test market definitions.
4 to 3 is usually not hard. When $GOOG and $META are included in their market definition though its going to make it seem like DOJ designated monopolies are actually subject to the power of ad agencies...
I've always been a fan of the ASR. It's the right way to do a share repurchase when you're sending a message.
When you're in a position where you want to send a message it's often superior to at will deployment as well.
Good for $wing
Turns out Trump is trying to kill crypto after all

The last year has been really helpful in providing real world examples for me to teach my kids that there aren't good guys and bad guys, but people who have different objectives and are willing to do things, sometimes not nice things, to get them.
Fidelity wrote up the value of their investment this week.
If Trump dies tomorrow, how many cabinet members get replaced? How does that change policy?
Harris was so damaged politically early in Biden's term, she was unlikely to deviate if something happened.
What would happen under Vance?
When we elect old guys, we have to consider the risk....
But the market only cared that burgers and fries growth was otherwise unremarkable.
Massive capital unlocked, it's ROIC will be a step function higher, store growth will be faster, its stores will be smaller. Lots of ROIC accretiveness... Cash flow will flow while its also growing...A meaningful change from the previous model.
I'm always surprised by what the market cares about in a particular day, quarter, year for a sector. $PTLO historically grew capital heavy - it liked owning its buildings, its improvements. It will now expand capital light, the boxes will be a little more cookie cutter.
The "problem" with the approach is treating countries like ants when they're more like crows - they carry a grudge. Could be a liability when when we are vulnerable, ie the last two sentences - but that's not an article.

It's tough to see the tariff threat towards Mex, the immediate result, and the BRICs threat...and not think that negotiating posture has shifted from "demure" to "muscular". Some "Inevitabilities" are actually path dependent, and the path is changing. Outcome unclear but potentially pos..potentially
