Down the Rabbit Hole: @scifrightspod.bsky.social
The Matrix (1999) and Red Rooms (2023)
One of the best episodes yet! The in depth analysis of The Matrix films was outstanding. Not just name dropping Baudrillard but discussing his ideas and why they are relevant to the film.

We conclude our current season on A.I. and technofear, going down the rabbit hole into the deepest reaches of cyberspace, reaching across planes of reality with THE MATRIX and into the depths of depravity in RED ROOMS.

A new episode awaits so I thought I'd better hurry up and post this from the previous one! What dark forces are lurking within cyberspace? @lindsayhallam.bsky.social and Liam with special guest @broganjmorris.bsky.social cautiously take a peep at our haunted motherboards. rss.com/podcasts/sci...
Catching up with @scifrightspod.bsky.social
Not seen A.I. for a while and didn't really enjoy the exprience last time round as I'm not usually a fan of Spielberg's sentimentalism. However the deep dive by Liam and Dr. Hallam has made me reasses my opinion. There's a lot to like and not just Teddy! 🧸
Thank you to @liamdunn82.bsky.social and @lindsayhallam.bsky.social for having me on the latest episode of @scifrightspod.bsky.social to discuss Colossus: The Forbin Project and Pulse, as well as AI, nuclear panic in the movies and the horror of early digital: open.spotify.com/episode/3vwp...
Mightily excited to be intro-ing the greatest Japanese horror film of the 21st century by the mighty Kiyoshi Kurosawa! Tonight at The Castle Cinema in Hackney 9pm.
"an uncanny treat, full of phantom ideas and unanswered questions": Kiyoshi Kurosawa's alienating, quietly apocalyptic J-horror PULSE (2000) screens 9pm tonight at The Castle Cinema for Distorted Frame Film Club, intro'd by @jaspersharp.bsky.social. My old review projectedfigures.com/2017/06/27/p...
New episode out now exploring the malevolent forces lurking in our computers and the dark (possibly haunted?) depths of cyberspace. Joining us is Brogan Morris, writer, journalist and programmer for Distorted Frame, to discuss Colossus: The Forbin Project and Pulse rss.com/podcasts/sci...

A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) d. Steven Spielberg

I've only watched the first two films and agree with Arnie when he says at the end of T2 'It has to end here!' Nevertheless I really enjoyed this episode of @scifrightspod.bsky.social with guest @travisjj.bsky.social ranking the terminator franchise.

I really enjoyed it this! My thoughts:
*You could devote entire shows to what went wrong with T3 and Salvation. They’re not interesting films but it is interesting that they missed the mark by so far.
*Is Cameron the most successful sequel director ever? It’s actually nuts how good he is.
“I know a lot of talented people worked on it… but fuck them!”
I laughed so hard hahaha @travisjj.bsky.social you just killed me man.
This Terminator ranking is absolutely my bag @scifrightspod.bsky.social
Thanks so much to @travisjj.bsky.social for being our first guest and talking Terminator with us!
The good folks at @scifrightspod.bsky.social have their first guest! Unfortunately, their options were limited, so it's me. But if you wanna here me, @liamdunn82.bsky.social and @lindsayhallam.bsky.social dig into the entire Terminator franchise, smash that link.
Don’t think I liked WEAPONS quite as much as Liam but I did enjoy listening to him enthusing about it in the latest podcast from the excellent @scifrightspod.bsky.social.
New episodes of SciFrights Bites is out now! We check out the new film everyone is talking about - Zach Creggar's WEAPONS!
We cover the film’s influences, structure, style & scares before getting into spoiler territory, going deep into the film’s villain and the societal implications of its themes.
‘Smart speaker play episode 8 from @scifrightspod.bsky.social’
Looking forward to future developments as the podcast evolves… Transmuting Liam and @lindsayhallam.bsky.social into a unified super intelligent consciousness maybe?
I'm going to go with a guilty pleasure... When I saw the first Transformers film (2007) in the cinema, my jaw dropped to the floor. Twenty-something me was a tiny kid again (and yes all the sequels are rubbish).
Maria the maschinenmensch, now and forever the most alluring, frightening and ergonomic of them all 😁
Under the banner with podcast title SCIFRIGHTS is the poster for Demon Seed, which has a woman lying face up, her hair falls down the bottom half, over which there is the tagline "Julie Christie carries the demon seed", then further down it says "Fear for her". Next to it is the poster for Ex Machina, all black with a photo of a robot woman turning to look straight at us.
Our new episode explores how direct relationships develop between humans and A.I. We discuss one woman’s nightmare of A.I. domination in Demon Seed, and Alex Garland’s examination of human/A.I. relations (and possible robot liberation) in Ex Machina.
Please check us out & leave a review!
Excellent deep dive into 28 Years Later. If you loved the film as much as I did you should fire up your podcast machine and enjoy the fine discussion from @scifrightspod.bsky.social
Across the top is written "SciFrights Bites" underneath is the poster for 28 Years later which features the biohazard symbol in red. Underneath is the tagline "Time didn't heal anything"
Introducing SciFrights Bites, a shorter episode on a new release. First up we discuss 28 Years Later. We explore the legacy of the first 2 films, before delving into how the new film comments on the current times and expands the series mythology.
It definitely seems like the one film every dad shows their child!
