After revelations that companies like Ring have been selling home security footage to ICE, the most common defense of keeping a camera up seems to be, “But what if I’m stalked?”
And as a violence researcher, I’m just here to state for the record that police do not care about your security footage.

Hey Wolverines! Feeling funny about our alma mater begging for coins while sitting on a massive endowment & bowing to a fascist administration? I've got just the thing for you!

I don’t know where you live but all the cool kids near me have been going with one of a few different Priority cycles. Bonus: Belt drive. (I am not one of the cool kids, but they all seem very happy.)

Flashback to the Monday after DST many years ago, when I went to wake up my youngest for daycare and they scowled the fiercest toddler scowl and yelled, “NO NO NO! IT NOT MORNIN, IT SLEEP!”

They made 3 children’s movies in the last 10 years that are just straight up about death: Coco, Onward, and Soul. Pixar has been banned in my house ever since we saw Inside Out and the kids were like, “Why did you make us watch this? We don’t want to cry on movie night!”

I used basically this metaphor for my Great Dane of a child recently, and it worked but the kid had edits. “Can I be a Bernese mountain dog instead? They’re so fluffy!”

I just made my call, and like others are saying, the guy on the phone was the sweetest. He thanked me for calling and said they're keeping records of all calls and emails they get - he said it's a lot.

I called and I talked to a very friendly guy that knew why I was calling before I said anything, and I was able to express my opposition in a few minutes. Recommend everyone do so as well

For example, under current law, the government can purchase detailed records of Americans’ movements, web browsing, and associations from public sources without obtaining a warrant, a practice the Intelligence Community has acknowledged raises privacy concerns and that has generated bipartisan opposition in Congress.

We are teetering on the edge of a transgender genocide in this nation, and it is the duty of ALL CIS PEOPLE to stand in the way. There is no group we can sacrifice to keep the rest of us safe. It's all of us or none of us.
I, personally, can no longer tolerate cowardice.

The conflation of porn and LGBTQ (but specifically trans) issues is purposeful. It's part of the Project 2025 plan to criminalize LGBTQ+ ppl.
It starts with books. It moves to bathrooms. Then it moves to govt IDs. We're in it already.
You don't need to be an expert to see where this goes next.

I just did this and was on hold for a few minutes but when I got through the operator was very friendly and said that they're taking it very seriously. I was given the option to give my name or stay anonymous and just share my county or city. The whole process took under 5 minutes!

Just called to tell them I am opposed. The nice person who answered said they are being inundated — her words — with calls on this topic.

Just called and it took me fully 1 minute and 38 seconds from start to finish to talk to the friendliest guy on planet Earth. You have no excuse not to call.
Do it, Michiganders, or I'll tag you and be a menace in your mentions until you do it 👀

I called during my lunch & spoke to a real human who said they have been inundated & they are keeping a count of how many people are in opposition. You don’t need a speech, when she asks where to direct your call just say, “I’m calling to oppose the license plate reader agreement with CBP.” 2/2

TAKE ACTION: The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) approved placement of Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras for Customs and Border Protection
(CBP) on state land in Michigan.
CBP then contacts local law enforcement to make traffic stops that lead to CBP arrests.

Michiganders: MDOT signed a deal with CBP to let them install automated license plate readers on state land. This technology allows real-time tracking of people’s movements and whereabouts. It’s a disaster for our immigrant neighbors, and for our rights. Call and register your opposition. 1/2

There have always been horrifically anti-trans groups and individuals. Few have done more, though, to launder their hate into “respectable” conversations than Jess Singal. No publications have done more to help that along than The Atlantic and The New York Times.

Trans people in Kansas are having IDs stripped. IDs they need to function in the modern world. To vote.
When politicians and pundits tell you trans rights are a distraction, that we're not worth fighting for, they're telling the folks to go fuck themselves
Trans folks have kitchen tables too

screengrab of 1970 Ann Arbor news article, text: "...the rejection of the annexations but he notes he not agree with the position of some persons who voted "no"on the questions. As an example, he said a certain element cast the "no" vote because they desired large one-acre lots which would be too expensive for Negroes to purchase. "
... because they wanted to maintain large lot zoning ordinances designed to exclude poor & black people, often with help from no-growth leftists in places like Ann Arbor aadl.org/node/71925

historically speaking, the first big sports romances were football. And Black authors and readers pointed out that it was crazy, actually, that these teams were all white. And then it was like a galloping motherfucking stampede to hockey.
