There’s been a helicopter based man hunt, broadcasting the description of who they are looking for, going on over my apartment since 8 and yet I can’t find anything about it anywhere.

I had to switch my straight bar industrial for a chain one due to irritation on the flat of my ear, and honestly the chain feels super weird to shower with. It is cute but offputting at times.
Tinfoil and a toothpick on a desk
It is my favorite day of the semester: curse tablet day!
I’m reading a book where instead of killing herself, Cleopatra summons Sekmet and is turned into a vampire.
That wild plot is not the point of this post though.
They did not capitalize Vestal Virgins any time it shows up and like, at least capitalize Vestal. It’s from a name.
Hi Gregory! Sorry about the date confusion. March 1 is the deadline. I'll update the page to reflect that (should have done that before posting because we've already gotten emails...my bad!)
I would say that that is a valid topic!

Friends who are more knowledgeable about ancient medicine, is there any research on what medical condition can be attributed to the 'suffocation' caused by the wandering womb in most the texts?
I hate when my blood sugar runs higher for days for no apparent reason. Is my pump set not working? Am I getting sick or fighting off an infection?
While I may not be yearning for the amount of snow the east coast is getting right now, I do miss snow days.
Why do books always start getting good just when you should probably put them down and go to sleep. Especially on days where you have to wake up early the next morning.
Me, every weekend: I'm going to take this time for myself, except class prep for Monday.
Also me, every weekend: ends up working anyway.
Changing industrial jewelry is so hard to do solo...
I know Emerald Fennell is getting criticism for Wuthering Heights. I have not seen it so until l do I won't say anything about it.
But I gotta say that Promising Young Woman is a masterpiece.
I was today years old when I learned there is Roasted Garlic Bouillon. Surely that will give me the punch I want in my next batch of Chicken Noodle Soup.
So the rain is intense
I’m going through an existential crisis so I bought a bunch of Disney themed (and one LOTR) tie-dye-ish shirts to wear while teaching. I am A Professional
My dad: have you had dinner?
Me: no, my blood sugar is a little high. I went low at lunch and overreacted.
My dad: what dos overreacted mean in this instance?
Me: I had a bowl of ramen and four Take 5s (117 carbs)
SDSU switched spam filters, and now all the fake conference emails aren't being marked as spam and I have to deal with them. Frustrating.
I'm very grateful to Dr Alicia Matz for her academic review of my new novel, The Wandering Queen. If you're interested in Dido or the issue of reinterpreting the classics for modern audiences, this is a great read!
I wish I had someone to debrief The Pitt with immediately after it aired because tonight's episode wrecked me.
At the end of last year, I posted about how I was going to start using my blog to review modern retellings.
The first in the series is now up, reviewing Claire Heywood's new adaptation of Dido www.aliciamatz.com/2026/02/an-a...
Has anyone here read The Will of the Many?
Work in progress scarf that uses cabling techniques to make the umane of an owl
I’m not a sportsball person, so instead of watching the Super Bowl yesterday I spent my day knitting this Superb Owl
Started then frogged the same knitting project like 5 times today, but I think I finally know how to do what I want to do when I start it again tomorrow.
Not exactly shocking news but it's worth noting that Hubbard seems to have requested money from Epstein to fund an anti-Title IX conference (something in line with, say, his class & multiple conference talks about how women are regularly making false rape claims)

Decided to wait to eat dinner until after the Pitt tonight and that was an excellent decision...
One student, so far, has said "I love this class" every time she turns in her exit ticket. The validation of my passion for the topic is so often unreciprocated that this is so great to hear. (2/2)
As a way to take attendance and gauge in class engagement, I've started having my students turn in an 'exit ticket' with one major takeaway they got from class. (1/2)
Modern media: Athena is a girlboss, feminist goddess!
Athena (Aeschylus, Eumenides): "I defer to the male in all tings with all my heart." Plus, you know, Medusa...
