So, to conclude; no. The Cogitix products they export to their neighbours don't have trade secret stamps on them, as, while their neighbours may STUDY them, they will never have the industrial equipment, and on-hand access, to Cogitix itself.

That idiosyncrasy is the Commune's protection.

Orchana Communards, on semi-regular basis, travel to neighbours they're friendly with, repairing Cogitix products (and inspecting them) in exchange for more food and agricultural equipment.

That way, a self-feeding mercantile loop continues.

So, neighbours are more than open to study Cogitix products, and Cogitix itself, and learn from it - and many neighbours have!

But to enjoy consistent benefits from using Cogitix products, the Commune is not just your seller; they're also your repairer.

They can't JUST buy their Cogitix products for food once, and forget about them; if you are an importer of Cogitix products, you are going to be in a long-term relationship with that Commune.

You see, just like everything, Cogitix products require maintenance and management. And to do so, you need the proper industrial tools for that, alongside extra Cogitix if things break.

Because Cogitix is only within this Mountain Range, the Commune's neighbours are in a bit of a pickle.

I've mentioned before that the Orchana Commune exports their Cogitix products to the world in exchange for food and other agricultural material, as the Orchana Commune functions on an anarchist barter system. They don't have fiat money or currency.

THIS is where their clever soft power comes in.

As a minor sidenote, the Orchana Commune doesn't really have universities, as the manufactories, foundries, and laboratories themselves are places of education.

In the Orchana Commune, education is very horizontal, practical, and communal. It's an anarchist society, so education is not conducted in hierarchical environments.

For Cogitix processing into immediate good, this is mostly spearheaded by Goblins and Cogheads.

While Cogitix is amazing as a strategic resource, it truly requires an advanced level of industrial knowledge and equipment. Not even steel has foundries and manufactories like those for Cogitix.

Because Cogitix is such an idiosyncratic strategic resource of the region, the Orchana communards have found themselves in an interesting, and lucky, position.

You'd think, that because Cogitix is only within the Orchana Mountain range, and what the Orchana Commune has gone through, that they'll be jealously secretive of how they use and process Cogitix.
