I just want someone, anyone, to write down in plain English (ideally from the perspective of the service user) how this works; what it proves*; how it proves* it; what it will improve, and what some of the likely shortcomings might be. That's all. For some peculiar reason, this never happens.

๐ฏ though caveat to my original that was more in relation to London recruitment specifically - your point still being completely valid. Also don't get me started on RCs being based in London...

I have challenged them on this in the past and the pathetic excuse is: but to have a competitive "compensation package" and attract the best staff we have to do this.

Some will be exposed to medical negligence and malpractice claims some won't. Some will be able to work in some Ivory tower depts. and some won't. Most of all there will be disparity in the minimum quality of care provided by those with an ICM CCT.

Nothing to discuss. Absolutely farcical - if you are using (or expected to use) USS diagnostically you need formal credentials and governance processes. Seems to be pandering to varied provision in training...

In frustration, the Russians decided to push their luck. They informed Romania that a transport plane would shortly be entering their airspace, permission or not.
โYou could do that.โ The Romanian Defence Minister, Victor Babuic told Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov over the phone. โOf course we would be obliged to send up an aircraft to intercept your aircraft.โ
Babuic pointed out that in such tense situations, accidents often happen. He couldnโt guarantee that the pilot wouldnโt mistakenly shoot the Russians down.
โOf course this is a crime.โ Babuic said, apologetically. โHe would be prosecuted under our law, and he would be sent to jail for seven years.โ
He paused for effect.
โBut he would also be a national hero.โ He added, thoughtfully.
The warning worked. No further attempts to reinforce the Russian contingent at the airport were made.
Okay as the original publisher is long since gone, here is a version of the (award winning at the time!) thing I wrote on the Pristina Airport incident back in the day.
Note Putin's role. Also worth it for this bit of sassiness by the Romanian Foreign Minister.

Absolutely continue to be delighted with my ~3y old @frame.work 13 laptop. Managed to break my fingerprint reader (dodgy USB electronics from AliExpress ๐คฆ). Painlessly ordered the replacement part and fitted it now good as new. Haven't owned any other laptop that this would have been possible on.

TIL this is not the first time a Nobel laureate has given their medal away. The last was Knut Hamsun (1920 Nobel Prize in Literature) who gave his medal to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels in 1943.

Yep. It's also a bit disingenuous to suggest that Grok/CSAM is the primary reason for removing him. It is but one of many. But being a fascist and (neo)Nazi is fairly close to the top of the list.

Also massively "out of touch/ doesn't know the price of milk" vibes. Most people who aren't crazy (or from certain medical speciality stereotypes) and considering switching from car to bike want an ebike. Unless you are buying from AliExpress (not on scheme) cheap is still >ยฃ1k

I approve. Excellent stopgap while waiting for a EHR that surfaces key information well enough that it intuitively makes sense not to repeat it by ctrl-c & ctrl-v. Should only need to remain in place for the average duration of any NHS "temporary fix"...

Garbage in, garbage out: Workshop at SDinGOV 2025 - Effortmark
Caroline reports back on an interactive workshop in which participants shared their experience of measuring error rates and data quality
In today's episode of #FixTheForms, I've finished writing up the workshop on #ErrorRates and #DataQuality that I ran #SDinGOV
Extra thanks to @pixlz.com for help with prep - sadly, she couldn't make it due to a family emergency

Yup. Though not just AWS but AWS us-east-1 specifically. Seems AWS itself is dependent on that region.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue looks curiously at a pie which Green has placed on a plate on the table, while Green looks at him with joy and pride.
Green: I have made a sidequest pie!
Blue listens patiently as Green goes on.
Green: Flour from the mill we visited once, mushrooms that we gathered with your mom, homegrown parsley and basil... Almost all ingredients were things we've made or gathered on adventures!
Both foxes turn back to look at the pie.
Blue: How does it taste?
Green: Bad.

Depends if you care about the continued existence of those seven companies and/or snake oil sorry I mean AI. Or have exposure via any institution that was stupid enough to invest in any of them.
