Starbucks is breaking up with San Francisco. I spoke to politicians and specialty coffee folks on what that means for the city.

only 5 days left in our current CBA. we need a fair contract
Only 7 more days until the Vox Media contract expires! #OneUnionOneContract
We're down to the wire, folks! Only 7 days remain till our contract expires, and Management is STILL refusing to bargain meaningfully with us on most major issues including layoff procedures, salary increases, severance, health care, and the inclusion of The Dodo. It's like they WANT us to strike!
The Vox Media Union just delivered our strike pledge to Vox management, showing our unwavering commitment to securing a collective bargaining agreement that is fair. Should we not get a fair contract, we are prepared to strike.
anyway here's the email I sent to jim bankoff last week. i'm still heartbroken. I have been insanely, destructively angry for weeks, and I think I will be for a long time.

if you can, consider supporting all the wonderful people brutally dismissed by Vox yesterday gofund.me/a21cbbdc
What happened with Polygon today is so fucked. Vox Media has made some atrocious decisions in my six years here but this is really something else. And to do this in the middle of us bargaining a new union contract, where they scold us for asking for better protections, is just unconscionable.
If you want to know how truly despicable this is, people are using the middle finger emoji to Jim Bankoff in the slack announcement of it, and theyโre only doing that because thereโs not a meaner emoji
Forgive the earnest post here, but one year ago this week, Global Tetrahedron took over The Onion. We've since brought back the paper and ONN, dramatically increased revenue, and hired more writers and artists.
But most importantly, as other places debased themselves, we refused to bend the knee.

This is a v good piece, and touches on some of the same subjects I've written about over the past few years (namely the coffee industry's techy naval gazing and often hollow morality)
