In Everything is Tuberculosis John Green dives into why TB is still a problem in the world today. Learning that TB is around not because we canβt cure it but because of poverty inequality racism. This was emotional. I think readers will now want to learn more about TB. This was really eye opening.
Had fun with the Houston Book Crawl this weekend! Ended up getting 15 books at 10 different indie bookstores. It was a blast! #htxbookcrawl25

March Wrap
Nightbitch is about a mother who loves her husband and son. She gave up a career to stay home and care for her son but she is struggling with the pressure of motherhood. Wow I felt for her. It can be so easy to lose your identity when you become a mother. This was an interesting take on motherhood.
We are Jumping between undeveloped main characters and undeveloped side characters. Insta couples insta love or lust. I donβt even know. The writing is bad, the plot is weak, the world is underdeveloped the characters are not interesting. I forced myself to finish honestly.
but no. This was about three people who randomly develop powers and are then taken into a secret magical world (against their will) and then forced to attend a magic college? There are multiple POVs I think 6. which feels so chaoticβ¦
Remedial magic. Review. First. Problematic. A queer book with HP references? Also ableist. So disabled and sick people cannot and do not exist in this magical society?
Second. This was absolutely not what it was described as. Synopsis made it out to be a cozy fantasy, witchy sapphic romanceβ¦
I feel that! She was awful!!
But so good π
