it’s important for you to understand that Platner doesn’t call himself a progressive because he’s trying to win an election in Maine and not San Francisco. But on policy he is left of the median Dem politician on every single issue except gun control. Call it what you want but he is a leftist.

If you just can’t trust the guy or think there’s a chance he’s catfishing us all, fair enough. But we should judge people on who they are now and not what they used to be, because people are capable of change. And I know this is true because I’ve changed.
Graham Platner 10+ years ago was probably equally a piece of shit or worse, but I don’t see that prejudice or ignorance or close-mindedness in the person I see now. And not one thing I’ve seen or heard from him in the past year makes me think he’s the same guy he was back then.
But the more I read and learned and experienced in the world the more lefty I got. It didn’t happen overnight. It wasn’t until after I graduated college that I voted democrat for the first time. If you were to scan my Facebook posts back when I was a teen you’d think I was a far right piece of shit.
perhaps I’m biased on this topic because I grew up with 2 very conservative and bigoted parents, and up until high school I was a dumbass right winger. I was prejudiced and ignorant because all I heard growing up was rush limbaugh and bill oreilly and Sean hannity.
