It turns out this film's tagline is in reference to its lead actor...
It's a scam, right? It's a scam that starts with "Good news! You don't have to hire the person who could show you how this is a scam!"
Here's the thing. All AI products say "We know you're not an expert on [subject], so we'll be that expert for you." And it's great that this one also says, "And, if you want, you can check our work." But, you're not an expert, right? Do you know how to check an experts work?
And I mean, good, it can't modify your data. But the question was "How does Beancount AI avoid hallucinations?" not, "How can I do all the same work this thing is supposedly doing for me so I can keep a vigilant eye on it and catch hallucinations before they slip through and ruin my company?"
Cause I got to keep picking at a scab, from their FAQ:
"How does Beancount AI avoid hallucinations?
Every insight cites specific ledger entries stored in Git. The AI operates in read-only mode and can't modify your data. You can always verify the AI's work by inspecting the plain-text source."
How many podcasts can be recorded in one day?
One man will find out!
Two.
The answer is two.
A shelf with zines stacked on it, visible are three pocket dungeon zines: The Keep on the Shining Isle, The Corruption of Pelursk, and The Ghost Houses of Phylinecra.
Just a reminder that my pocket dungeons are all on sale at the Danforth Arts Market! These are system agnostic adventure modules designed to be light on combat, high on mystery, and all about places that are haunted, though each in different ways. Learn more: www.portablecity.net/category/poc...
A black and white line drawing. The image shows a giant snake with a swastika for an eye. The snake is being killed by two medieval style knights, there are three downward facing arrows piercing the snakes neck. The caption reads: Teamwork.
Always a good day to make new friends
Came across this looking at some plain text accounting options, a rabbit hole I feel myself slipping into.
In general, the part of me that <3s my HP-12c is pretty excited about this. Just a nerdy pursuit that society has violently shaped itself in such a way as to somewhat justify.
...anyone selling you transparency with an LLM is fundamentally lying to you.
I know this is just marketing hype aimed at an audience that's decidedly not me. But just in case you're in that audience, please, please, please don't trust AI with your data. Any data, but especially not your personal finances. Don't trust the accuracy of AI results. And...
A screenshot of beancount.io that reads "Accounting, reimagined for AI-era. Write your finances like code--with AI-powered insights, automation, and full transparency. Beancount.io brings scriptable, auditable accounting to the age of LLMs."
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...
whew.
fuck off.
Calling Cormac McCarthyβs authorial style a βmistakeβ that AI no longer makes is so funny
This is the warning on the blood pressure monitor my dad just got.
Exceptional work. Anybody know what the fuck itβs supposed to mean?
Last line is especially ominous
holy shit

There's definitely a poop tree in Narnia.
If anyone out there happens to know of any Annalise AP, inquiring minds would appreciate the info (mine is one of them!).
Never not cranky about daylight savings.
Apocalypse World is to be inducted into the Academy of Gaming Arts and Design Hall of Fame at Origins this year!
Congratulations to @lumpley.bsky.social and @megueyb.bsky.social (who I've known longer than a bunch of you little punks have been alive π)!
I Saw the TV Glow is currently free to watch on YouTube. One of the most impactful movies I've ever seen. Would recommend
There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.

C.S. Lewis, trying to jazz up a piece with a little tension: "Oh, I know! There's a wheelbarrow! But Aslan said not to use it for MYSTERIOUS reasons, but they have to move some mud around. Will they use it?!"
thank fuck for some small bits of good news

to me it rocks that this company that has never come within light-years of making money and has a bad product with zero practical use cases is the pivot point of the global economy because a bunch of embarrassing Burning Man dorks just decided it should be
Iβm blocking this thing. But jeez. Watch out for AI shit like this. Itβs clearly designed to flatter and pretend to be a person π€’
I did! 1,000 years ago. Before I knew what I was getting into and just thought, π€ letters from a devil! π€
Anyway, would live to see an Aslan vs. Elric film. But, you know, not done today. Like a lost one from the 70s.
