The account seems to be full of similar rubbish. Luckily it has no followers.

Have you seen this @romanscotland.bsky.social? It looks like we got the Antonine Wall all wrong (although the soldiers are quite dishy...).

This is undoubtedly one of the most ridiculous and inaccurate examples of AI I have ever seen (and that is saying something). Honestly, there should be a law against this sort of bilge.

A small and very pitted menhir stands on a patch of carefully mown grass. Card behind are queuing for petrol or parked beside a new wooden chalet/lodge. The stone itself is shaped like the number 1 and pitted like pumice. You could fit your hand into the largest hole.

The Tibblestone, an ancient pitted stone on a crossroads near Tewkesbury on a garage forecourt. Lost and found buried by a gardener in 1948. One of Gloucestershire’s very few standing stones. #StandingStoneSunday #UrbanPrehistory

Castlerigg - wow, what a site! A few times I’ve been lucky enough to have the stones all (or almost all) to myself, following a downpour. #StandingStoneSunday

Evidence for the diet of the Roman soldiers who guarded the Antonine Wall in Scotland - including Samian pottery, shellfish, nuts and seeds - found at various sites along the frontier, now in the Hunterian Museum, Glasgow.

I think the evidence in Scotland shows that they ate local produce but also products imported from the rest of the Empire, including figs, olive oil and wine.

It was mass produced, but also good quality. So a bit fancy, but also not unusual if that makes sense. More elite vessels like bronze wine jugs have also been found in Scotland that would have been used by the officer class.

Alan's fundraiser for LINK AGE SOUTHWARK Help Alan Montgomery raise money to support LINK AGE SOUTHWARK

Next month I am running the London Landmarks half marathon in aid of Link Age Southwark, who do great work supporting isolated older people in SE London. It is a big challenge for me, so advice, support and (if you are able) sponsorship would be much appreciated!

This is my watercolour of Wayland's Smithy, an ancient barrow in Oxfordshire. First constructed around 3950-3550 BC and later expanded, it has been linked in folklore with Norse god Wayland since at least AD 955.
