This, plus the fact that tariff revenue to date is far from enough to replace what the U.S. Treasury generates from income taxes.

TACO! aka annoying the EU=bad idea just now?
Section 122 tariffs now being collected at 10%, not Trump's weekend 15%.

Tariff rebates will go to the importers that actually paid them, because the government knows who they are and what they're owed. Most couldn't pass those refunds on to final consumers even if they wanted to.
The fun part is if these 122's are ruled illegal a year from now, all this happens again!
I also question whether insulting the swing votes on the SCOTUS bench is super-smart - esp. if there are more legal challenges ahead on how other tariff powers are interpreted.
I keep thinking about Trump vowing to make more money off what he does next after this SCOTUS decision. Heβs telling on himself - making it even more clear this is about taxation, not security. The majority today said taxation is Congressβs job. Over to you, legislators.
What problem is Trump's new global 10% tariff meant to solve?
If it's about leverage, ask: How much leverage do you get from a tariff that disappears in 150 days?
If it's onshoring: Who builds new factories based on tariff that disappear before the factory is built?
It's a tax. That's all it is.
Again, we should treat answers to "who pays tariffs?" & "does voter fraud exist?" & other social scientific questions as settled law/facts, just like we treat "does the sun rise in the East?" We do not need more research or explainers or both sides debates about this in 2026. It feeds the trolls.
Watching Russian figure skaters at the Milan Olympics - both those that skate as "neutral" athletes and those that have suddenly discovered or manifested a convenient citizenship elsewhere - is yet more proof of Russia's cunning at getting what it wants in this world, sanctions smanctions.
Today's Trade Secrets. A year of Trump. A fierce tariff campaign. And yet globalisation, at least goods and services trade, is....fine? And the campaign has...probably peaked? And companies...aren't much worried any more? Medium-to-long term risks, absolutely. But we've weathered the initial storm.
Succinctβ¦ but honestly heβs not wrong with this summation, thatβs how it read to me too

Old enough to remember when province of Ontario ran ads during World Series ftg Reagan's words on free trade and Trump went off about (off-year) election interference/broke off trade talks.
