The Royal Hotel (2023)
The Royal Hotel just sort of meanders around, seemingly unsure of quite what it is or where it wants to go.

The Ballad of Wallis Island (2025)
Keep your Niagra Falls, keep your Hadrian’s Wall, keep the lot. Keep Alton Towers. That’s what it’s all about. That’s beautiful

Just watched the first episode of “The War Between the Land and the Sea”. Really enjoyable!
Love the design of the Sea Devils, Russell Tovey was excellent, the was some genuine tension in the scenes where the two groups came together and it had a couple laughs too!

Merv (2025)
The dog is definitely the best part of this film.

Dan Ballard celebrates while Woltemade has his hands on his head. In the background is Tino Livremento
Close up on Livremento who looks disbelieving with his hand over his mouth in shock.
New favourite reaction pick for 2025 has dropped #SAFC
How good was Noah Sadiki today!
Absolutely everywhere on the pitch. Never stopped running.
What a buy this guy has been!
And what a win! Not a spectacular by any means, but a measured, composed (until the end 😂) performance deserving of the win!
What a cracking header that was!!!!!!!! #SAFC
It’s a fantasy, yes, but it’s a Richard Curtis film. They’re all fantasies.
And I will likely watch it every year until… what? Death? Maybe? Actually?
The score, as usual for a Curtis film is on point!
Love Actually (2003)
I think I’m just a sucker for Richard Curtis.
It’s flawed, of course it is. I see the flaws, I understand them, but I couldn’t give a shit about any of them.
For all its flaws this is a lovely, well intentioned, funny, sweet Christmas Rom-Com.

Die Hard (1989)
A perfect action film which can be enjoyed at any time of the year 😉

Jay Kelly (2025)
A film overflowing with sadness and loneliness. The life lived, the life missed, and the life perceived from the outside.

And for a world famous Hollywood actor that’s about as big a compliment as I can pay.
Clooney is brilliant as well, and he also had this “forgetting I’m watching him” about him here, but Sandler is stealing the show.
Every 2… 3 years it seems that Adam Sandler has to do a film which reminds us the he can act.
“Jay Kelly” is that film for 2025.
I’m a little over halfway through and really loving it, and Adam Sandler is just brilliant. To the point where I am forgetting that I’m watching Adam Sandler.
“For many people life is like a hen house ladder… short and shit”
Brilliant line from a brilliant movie
The Holdovers (2024)
Really lovely film. The entire cast or superb, but Da’Vine Randolph absolutely steals the show with a performance full of humour and pathos.
Definitely one that I will return to in Christmases yet to come.

Eternity (2025)
I really liked this. An interesting premise, a strong cast, and some really sweet moments.
Would make a good companion piece for “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” from earlier this year which I really liked

Oh. What. Fun. (2025)
It’s fine. It passed the time. It didn’t annoy me particularly.
It won’t be on my annual roster of Christmas movies, but maybe in a few years I’ll watch it again.
It’s fine.

Anna and the Apocalypse (2018)
Some great songs and performances (especially the particularly deranged turn from Paul Kaye, and a story is at times funny, and times genuinely poignant, and which delivers genuine stakes.
There’s no such thing as a Hollywood ending.

That Christmas (2024)
Maybe I’m just a Richard Curtis fanboy, but I really liked this.
Nicely animated, incredibly sweet, and a whole bunch a heart warming festive feeling.

Love Hard (2021)
An above average Christmas rom-com, Elevated by really charming lead performances and some memorable set pieces

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025)
If you, as I did, felt that Glass Onion was a tonal change from Knives Out, strap in for this one.

Here we have Grok AI blindly speculating on the name of the ex-footballer arrested today.
If I was Alli or Wilshere I’d be speaking to my lawyers right about now…
Jingle Jangle Heist (2025)
I think there’s an argument to be made that this isn’t a Christmas film, but it’s fine. I’ve seen a lot better, but I’ve seen a lot worse.
Olivia Holt and Connor Swindell are likeable leads and with a film like this that’s half the battle.

What a win that was!! What a team this is!
Disappointing that. I thought we’d actually started quite well, but then a heavy pass in midfield gives it a way and then a bit unorganised in defence.
Going to have to come from behind again.
Christmas Karma (2025)
If you want a musical retelling of the Christmas Carol story… stick to The Muppets

The Night Before (2015)
Seth Rogan is really funner in this. Top tier comedy performance. The scene where he gets the dick pic is genuinely hilarious.

Office Christmas Party (2017)
As more adult Christmas films go, this is pretty good. Some decent laughs and enjoyable performances

Noelle (2019)
Obviously it’s not perfect, but Anna Kendrick is really likeable as the lead and it offers enough to go into my semi regular rotation of Xmas movies
