me and the other scheming viziers are wearing shoes gifted to us by the king that are way too big. we look ridiculous. the whole court is laughing at us behind our backs. honestly this is a pretty low point for us, the scheming viziers
This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.
Cool, now reunite him with his first language, peers, home, belongings and education.
I would hear, βYour great grandfather would roll over in his grave, weβre not Italian, weβre Sicilianβ
This is also why art is important. I learned about the Troubles because of the Cranberries song Zombie. I was only six or seven at the time, but it was such a powerful and terrifying song and music video that I asked my family what it was about. They told me as best they could.

Tomorrow, my son's school will be having meetings with all students discussing how ICE kidnapped their schoolmate and his family and sent them to Colombia.
The Iranian Red Crescent has sent a request to the International Criminal Court calling for a criminal investigation based on the US/Israel's systematic attacks against civilians and civilian objects including:
6,668 civilian structures

Over 9 million people live in Tehran in an area ~280 sq. miles.
For reference, NYC is rougher 8.5 million people in ~300 sq. miles.
So try and imagine what clouds of burning oil that ascend all the way to space would mean even if youβre in a different borough than the one that was struck /
oh my god? i mean i know fox crossed the rubicon a long time ago butβ¦oh my god? youre supposed to be a βnewsβ network and oh my god?
CNNβs Frederik Pleitgen says black, oil-contaminated rain is falling over Tehran after strikes on oil facilities by U.S./Israeli airstrikes.
Meme of the absolutely colossal Ever Given ship grounded with a huge excavator that looks tiny working valiantly to try to dig it out, tiny scoop by tiny scoop. Text on the ship says βYou are not obligated to complete the workβ. Text lower down by the backhoe reads, βBut neither are you free to desist from it.β
This Pirkei Avot quote helps me feel a little less like I have to solve everything (itβs literally been thousands of years of people feeling overwhelmed!) and it cracked me up when someone stuck it on the pics of the tiny backhoe trying to dig out the EverGiven ship when it got stuck.
Six people legally living in the US and legally traveling for work were disappeared by the US government and the only reason we knew about it was because one woman was family friends with a county commissioner and her cell phone pinged to two detention centers.
Happening now: ~200 protesters have gathered off Chicago's Michigan Avenue this afternoon for another demo condemning U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran and Lebanon.
Israeli airstrikes killed dozens in Lebanon overnight. Thousands of families have been displaced after widespread evacuation orders.
Update: Sarah Afzul, the woman's sister, told me that Naqvi has been released from a detention facility in Wisconsin, where she was transferred overnight and they've been reunited with her
Boosting this. Someone in the community is matching donations up to $3000 right now.
This is a hyper local fund for a suburb if the Twin Cities that will benefit families facing eviction due to unpaid rent. I know there is a lot of need, please donate if you can.
ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. Sheβs married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
Theyβve already sent her to Louisiana.
