I definitely purged a lot of stuff in 2015 and 2021. In 2020 I just kept paying rent in NYC for several months despite living in Toronto (Covid-19), I put stuff in storage in 2022 for six months, and also lived in a furnished place for five out of ten years, which meant minimal furniture to move.

Many days I feel bad I am not more productive or focused on things like job applications or freelance pitches or even unpacking and organizing my new apartment. Then I remember what I went through and how my body is still recovering from health stuff, and I try to be nicer to myself.

I have been laid off three (3) times and moved back to Toronto from NYC four (4) times in the last ten years. Every single time, I forget how disorienting and disruptive both of those things are.
