John Perkins was an evangelical Christian. Can you imagine an evangelical Christian saying anything like this today? They'd kill you.

Many more exams will have to be oral exams. This is still very common over here in Europe. But I don't know what the hell to do about dissertations or theses.
Gross, can you pour me a glass?
Amazing
It's incredible that companies have put AI into everything but still can't get smartphone keyboards to autocorrect very obvious errors. (This is the bane of my existence.) Blame the machines :)
it never occurred to me that they were so totally ignorant about the Bible
I agree if he merely claimed to do those things. If he did them and they witnessed it, then the whole leaving everything to follow him would make more sense.
If I came across someone who was healing paralyzed people & blind & deaf people & feeding people, I'd be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. That would seem reasonable to me. If someone doesn't believe all those accounts, then I can see why he'd seem more than a bit grandiose.
What I mean is, I see how you could argue those things. I would see Jesus pronouncing woes, for example, as expressions of his disapproval, not because they didn't like him, but because they saw him restoring people and were unmoved by the display of the kingdom in their midst.
I see your points. I don't want to argue, but anyway I can see why you'd say those things. Thanks!
Where do you feel he's being an asshole? Like when he's claiming divine prerogatives?
It's good you were kind to Elliot. He deserves that.
Well, everything he says supports human dignity. That's always nice in a leader!
If you think we don't need to look at how Jordan Peterson's formulation of Judeo-Bolshevism is used as an abusive dynamic that denies Black suffrage and causes long lasting ephebophilia, you are the proverbial nouveau riche idiot 🔥
🤣😂😅
I'm constantly saying this to anyone who'll listen
They are so close, which is great if that's how they roll. I back up when people get that close to me. Some pursue, getting closer.
Maybe 5 decades. But before then, friendship and love.
Lastly, I was a psycho religious zealot from age 12 into my 40s, and that really sucks, so I feel you.
Cars are nice to drive, and you could learn if you decide to one day. Parents can be great, but if they suck, maybe distance isn't the worst. I'm sorry if people around you can't see who you are. I imagine you to be loyal and a very good human being.
Well, I like the you that you display (so do several thousand others), though that will be unpersuasive. You seem deep and kind and hunky. You remind me a lot of Martha Nussbaum, whose depth of feeling describing literature caused me to unravel & become a quivering, tearful blob of meaning.
I don't know how anyone as interesting as you could think himself a loser.
For him, the Bible could become the word of God by God's action. Big difference b/W that and wacky conservatives.
Jesus standing over Scripture, capable of using it in a way that humans cannot, despite the fervent yearning of conservatives to twist it to their aims. Jesus standing inclusively in for all of humankind, as opposed to being only for a select few, which is so toxic and contrary to love.
Karl Barth saw what many conservative evangelicals couldn't even imagine (nor would they want to).
You did it, yay!
