I couldn't agree more!
I left Windows for Linux (Mint) about 10 years ago and have never looked back. Imagine downloading and installing updates without having to reboot your system. www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/wi...

Yeah and I hear he wants to bury the new runways under the Gardner Expressway. π
Android OS is based on the Linux kernel.
Too bad they aren't using Linux. Major organizations such as Google, Netflix, Amazon, NYSE and many banks and governments use Linux. Companies still use some Windows and macOS for edge, but at the scale that mattersβservers, cloud, internal platformsβthey are overwhelmingly Linux shops

Audiobook cover of "Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It" by Cory Doctorow
Just finished listening to the audiobook of @doctorow.pluralistic.net's "Enshittification", and *wow* what a book! It encapsulates so many things I've been feeling about the modern tech industry, but articulated so much better than I could. Highly recommend!!
I loved the audiobook. You may be interested in reading/listening to Tim Berners-Lee's (inventor of the world-wide web) "This Is for Everyone: The Unfinished Story of the World Wide Web".
When he finally leaves us, he sould be buried under the 401 or donate his body to SCIENCE.
He wants a memorial statue, a square and or streets named after him. Just like a true Narcissist.
Our privacy should be a collaborative effort between the government and companiesβbut we cannot rely solely on their goodwill. Thatβs why we need strict legislative and democratic controls to contain the surveillance state and private industry. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
Technical solutions like Tim Berners-Lee's Solid Pods/Wallets would be great. We need to take our personal data out of the hands of Meta, Google, Microsoft, Twitter X etc.
He's such a fool. Why not bury a new convention centre under the 401 and double down on the foolishness.
That's because he values profit and his excessive wealth over doing the right things to protect the vulnerable.
