This is just our reality now. Our reality is offensive. It shouldn't be considered impolite or uncivil to say that out loud!
@stephaniegal
I used to just post about safe streets, but there's a lot going on right now. I'm worried about the climate, growing fascism, injustice, and my friends in Palestine. Also will be giving my observations of the US after living in Greece for 10 months.
This is just our reality now. Our reality is offensive. It shouldn't be considered impolite or uncivil to say that out loud!
I'm talking to friends with family in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India, and they are dealing with fuel shortages that are shutting down businesses and schools. But I haven't heard anything about it.
The Iranian girlsβ school was hit by a US tomahawk cruise missile. NPR has confirmed the footage.
1. Again, itβs the presidentβs war, not Americaβs.
Poll after poll after poll show a majority, sometimes a vast majority, does not want the US to be entangled in a Middle East war.

Abortion bans appear to result in lower rents and higher vacancy rates, showing that people are choosing not to live in states w/ restrictive laws

This is actually one of the most shocking things I have learned in my grad school education - that the bulk of PM2.5 comes from tires and electrification will actually accomplish next to *nothing* in improving air quality in that sense
Americans hate this war. It's the politicians who aren't listening to us. Our democracy is broken :(
Yeah. I have long wondered if when people had more time off (or a wife at home) they just went somewhere out of state for a month or so, and that was their vacation, instead of blowing a ton of money going somewhere super expensive for a week. The latter is more resource intensive in many ways.
I also wonder if what passes for a "vacation" is much more extravagant than what used to pass for a vacation.
White text on black If YOU THINK PEDESTRIANS + CYCLISTS DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE SHARING THE ROAD WITH DRIVERS, WAIT TIL YOU MEET OTHER DRIVERS. DRIVERS ARE PROBABLY THE MOST ANTI-DRIVER PEOPLE OUT THERE.
Itβs brutal out there.
Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..
Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.
This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.
44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.
Attacks leave dead vs killed
love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region
Today the United States wasted another #1B on an illegal war in Iran, money that could have been spent on funding health care or providing SNAP benefits or cancer research or academic scholarships for minorities. I could go on and on but I think you get my point. #endtheiranwarnow

Iranβs people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
The oil depots in Sohanak, northeast of Tehran, Iran, are severely struck. Videos are showing massive fires all over the place.
Voting is not enough, we need boycotts against the corporations enabling this. Get off Facebook, cancel Prime, leave OpenAI. We canβt keep funding the erosion of our rights.
One hundred years ago it was hard to imagine Oklahoma City without streetcars. ...

Israel is bombarding, literally bombarding, two Middle East capitals, Beirut and Tehran, killing 100s of civilians, and yet the US and UK media continue to portray Iran as the threat to the region.
Israel has nukes, but Iran is the nuclear threat.
We live in Orwellian times.
I propose a new law:
Anyone who expresses support for an offensive war shall immediately be drafted to fight in it. No exceptions and no exemptions for any reason, including disability or service as a government official in any office. Presidents and congressmen shall fight in any war they start.
Well, gas is expensive, and food is expensive, and weβre doing a war nobody wants, but at least there are no jobs
βNo stupid rules of engagementβ

it's insane that my country's current position is that, if we don't like the leader of a sovereign nation, not only do we get to kill them we get to pick their successor
We're in court today asking a judge to block a new Kansas law that invalidates the IDs of transgender people and allows anyone to sue a person they suspect of being trans for using public restrooms.
This law has been wreaking havoc on trans people and we're demanding an immediate end to it.
This is dumb and cruel and awful.
