- using the clarity M at work has helped my masters a lot. Always knowing my peaks and program loudness/etc is soooo helpful! Especially for mixing in the full game
- I've mixed my percussion and drumset especially way too low! I wonder if that's from listening to Distant Worlds so much lol
- if your arrangement is good, you shouldn't need to boost your melody instruments that much! I actually think my arrangements were solid, but I guess I didn't have faith in that so I boosted the melody all the time
- my transitions have gotten so much better lately. Telegraph stuff if you can
- my melody instruments were SO LOUD in my old tracks! I think I did this on accident because to me, I want to hear the melody more than anything else
- because my melody instruments were so hot, they made the rest of the instruments feel off balance and just... odd
Listened back to a lot of old mixes today and learned a ton. Being at this new gig with an actual mentor and lots of pressure + deadlines has made me such a better writer and mixer.

Screenshot of my Tremolator patch that I use for this purpose. Note the depthmod/ratemod/accent are set to 0, rate is tempo-synch'd ("MIDI"), rhythm set to 16ths, and shape is a simple custom curve. I have a tiny bit of Width added just to sound a bit more natural, but it's not necessary at all.
MUSIC PRODUCTION TIP: Got a repetitive riff that you'd like to sound sharper, more precise? Try subtly adding in a trance gate!
I use Tremolator for this, low Depth + slight rush to the Feel to preserve acoustic instruments' attacks. Sounds more synthetic, but sometimes that's the goal for motors!
