He/Him. This is the account both of (in English) pasuht, the wholesomely sinister guy who loves books, ttrpg, and tv shows and doesn't love his depression and ptsd; and (in German) of his writing alter ego Erich Krull. PFP by ‪@lenanel.bsky.social‬

Not for the novela, but for the novel afterwards I'll for sure have to talk to a sex worker and I'd absolutely want to pay them for the time, but it wouldn't fall into a category for the usual hourly rates.

Hey more experienced writer friends! What is an acceptable rate to offer for an interview with a professional for novel research?

of course you're not self-absorbed for hoping something you put lots of effort into is liked by others. You created it. Your brain produced that glorious sauce. That is no small thing. Got, fucko? It also doesn't invalidate your efforts if it doesn't magically pop off either. Keep swinging that axe.

somewhere there is a post from @nocheinautor.bsky.social about auto blocking accounts with the check mark thingy and own handle. And I'm looking very concerned at my todo list for this week... /lh

ah. I asked because for me as a reader, it can lead to a subgenre frenzy. That's how I read like 10 or 12 books a couple of years ago with "non-male serial killer first person narrator" trying to find better execution (no pun intended) of a dissapointing read.

05.03.2026 09:03 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

are you reading more books of the same sub genres after a bad one? Or what does the spite lead to for your reading?

05.03.2026 08:23 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

totally agree. books that are close to my own themes and topics and are great (eg CM Rosen's The Crows) motivate me to become a better writer, work on my craft ect. Books like that but bad help with productivity. xd

05.03.2026 08:23 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

*interested*

And yeah, for me, it's really what's close to my themes. In both directions. Books that don't work imo but which *should* hit all my deepest brain buttons out of spite, and books like the crows by CM Rosen, that did what I try to do but better as motivation to work on my craft.

I have to admit that most of "Part Time Girl" was written to spite all the terrible, misogynistic, sex-swap movies I'd been subjected to growing up 😡

(There were a few good ones, and there's a lot more now, but the bad ones scarred me ☹️)

I like that people spite write as I spite read 😂

04.03.2026 20:15 👍 7 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0

The first ~25k of my first published web serial (Frameshift) was pure unadulterated spite-driven writing, which didn't improve it as an act of craft over what I'd been working on before but did get me to write 25k words in like a week and actually publish it.

Spite can work, and that rules.

04.03.2026 20:19 👍 6 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0

This is obviously correct. Read brought, read a lot.

But I admit that spite can be an excellent motivator for me and that includes reading books and getting angry enough they wasted a good idea for bad writing, it drives me to write even more try-hard.

Soon (praying for even sooner) the publishing(tm) will begin, so this was my last chance to change my pen name. And I took it.

Mitbewohner (Roommate/s) is a novel idea that is too hard to explain to be my first real attempt to find a publisher for something beyond short stories.

So first the novela that I love equally but is way easier to pitch.

- Finishing the short story, "Buchhandel", I'm working on.
- Starting to work on the novela project "Einer Der Guten", and figuring out mini-deadlines for its in-between steps if I want to finish it like planned before August.
- surviving the last week of moving apartments

Epilog steht. Zwei letzte Kapitel - ein großes Finale - sind noch übrig. My god. 😭
