When people talk about "law-breaking" among cyclists and drivers, it's important to remember that the actions are not remotely equivalent. A cyclist running a stop sign or riding on a sidewalk does not pose nearly the same risk as a driver speeding or running a stop sign.
We are left with the same stories over and over: should trans kids get medical care? Should trans women be allowed in sports? What happens when you ban trans people from bathrooms and the military? But we are more than whether cis people think we should exist in these spaces or not.
Legacy media is failing to cover one of the most important stories of our time with accuracy and integrity, defaulting to straight cis editors and reporters who are happy to debate our humanity for human interest.
We urgently need to address the fact that queer media has been decimated over the last year. Them has been sold. NBC Out dissolved. INTO shuttered. At a time when they are needed most, most queer and trans journalists have no platform or income.

Kansas lawmakers bypassed the committee process by doing a whole bill amendment and pushing this in two days. They then overrode the governors veto. They used emergency designation to make it go into effect immediately. There's no grace period. The amount of targeted animus here is staggering.
I can't even begin to describe just how fucked up this law is. People cannot drive to work, to school, or even the DMV to fix this without the threat of being arrested for driving on a suspended license. It literally removes the ability for trans Kansans to participate in society.
Because of the National driver register, since their licenses are suspended, trans folks cannot move to another state and get a new license until they remove the suspension on their existing Kansas license.
They can't even escape this by moving to another state.

Was driving my kids to school and the first thing on the radio was reporting about Trump's video depicting the Obamas as apes and I think many people still don't fully appreciate what it means to have to raise Black children in a country where the president is so brazenly and consistently racist
The behavior is not new, he has demonstrated over and over again who he is both through rhetoric and through policy. But there remains, I think, a cost in the ceaselessness of it all. To constantly have to tell your children that the president is wrong, is lying, is malicious, and is hateful.
