It is not weakness to disagree. The worst thing we can do is expect the same cookie cutter candidate to win across the country. Let the Republicans run on groupthink. Our candidates should speak for themselves. That’s the problem with the old guard. They all start sounding the same after awhile.

I guess you missed the part where Republican members of congress have been hiding from their constituents while Democratic representatives have powerlessly screamed into the void. I have never known the names of so many members of congress OR donated to so many candidates outside my own state.
Yes! I hate that everyone seems to see this as utter defeat when passed. We have to make sure there are viable candidates on the ticket if right-center is ready to turn. Pundits act like The Party intends to completely write off those seats and not spend any resources there. Why would anyone run?
I’m so tired of people hating traditional politicians snd complaining about the government being broken and ineffective. We ARE the government! Be the change you want to see in the world. If you’re not willing to put some skin in the game then be quiet!

Frankly I’m heartened to see this. All I keep hearing is how pissed everyone is at the Democrats. The infighting needs to stop. If we can lay out a clear plan of action maybe we actually have a shot at saving and rebuilding the country if there’s anything left of it after another year of this.
I was speechless when someone close to me confessed they voted trump because “the Democrats didn’t give me an acceptable candidate. “ Like WTF could you possibly hate in her enough to put us in this mess??? Of course they are someone who refuses to talk politics and immediately returned to 🙉🤬.
Maybe most. Hopefully not all. Unfortunately many people are sitting it out because they don’t think either side is worthy of their vote. I’d rather have someone I can try to debate than a NPC. 🙉 I HAVE managed to convince some life-long Republicans to abstain. At least it’s something. 🤷🏻♀️
Agree. I just want the grownups back in charge. I’m out here in The Middle surrounded by low information voters. They are completely driven by the soundbites that break through. We need to educate when we are given opportunities instead of telling them they are idiots. Even if they are. 😡
We say “nuh uh” and roll our eyes when trump spews lies, but that’s not enough. Most reasonable people see clearly when it comes to an adult’s rights. Unfortunately the rights of minors is a much more complicated discussion. Throw misinformation into the mix and the debate heats up real fast.
And that’s the problem. Saying that we should have dialogue is not throwing people under the bus. Until we are prepared to have more nuanced conversations the Right will continue to succeed in convincing the ignorant that we want to force gender reassignment on 4 yo boys who just like dresses.
Our challenge continues to be the framing of all issues as binary. Until we educate those who are ignorant instead of hating them, then honestly consider their concerns in good faith, we will never be able to win elections in conservative areas. Unfortunately those areas seem to be growing. 😞
No one is saying we should abandon minorities. We just need to stop letting them paint us as whackos who want to steal their children and put litter boxes in classrooms. Candidates are running to REPRESENT their voters. That may mean speaking a little differently in the heartland than on the coasts.
Every chance I get! Just hope those chances keep coming. 😞

Today we learned that in June the US economy lost jobs for the first time since 2020. We haven’t seen this kind of net job loss since - well, since the last time Trump was in charge.
I’d rather have someone who can be led to the light than an idealist that sits home because they can’t vote for a perfect candidate.
So you’ll throw away their support/votes on principle? I’m out here trying to embrace converts just to save our country at this point.
So there has not been extensive discussion regarding whether The Party platform should be more or less progressive since the election? Guess I’ve been living in a fever dream this year. Thank goodness.
Not all Democrats. The Party strategists and pundits. I keep seeing calls to pull further left to recapture disenchanted leftists. That is a losing strategy out here in the middle. Candidates need to be able to meet their constituents where they are and not to try to school them. For now.
She is not a seer but seems to be the only person LISTENING to voters. No matter how many focus groups she reports back on, Democrats absolutely refuse to hear the truth and continue to insist they know what’s best. They would rather be right and lose than do what it takes to win.
Seriously. I considered NPR one of the last bastions of serious journalism. Next thing you know they will be throwing around the f-bomb like these new fangled pod-bros. Story of my life as a wedged out genX-er. Too young to call people “folks” but too old to appreciate profanity in my news. 🤷🏻♀️
