I’ve Enrolled in a Creative Writing course I have mentioned before, that I was considering doing another degree. To that end I've been looking at various Masters programs around the region in subjects I'm interested in. As a Canadian living in the UK, I have to pay International Fees which are generally more than double what the fees for residents are, my plan was to wait until my status changed.

A pair of brightly coloured small parrots - Fischer's Lovebirds - sit closely together on a branch. Their beaks are red, and the red carries onto their heads, gradually shifting into orange, yellow down the neck and chest and then to green over the body and wings, with the tips of their wing feathers and tail being a bright teal blue. The background of the painting mimics the colours of the birds. There is no difference in the colouring of the sexes.

A sculpture sitting on a white surface and background. Make from recycled toilet paper rolls, Lindt chocolate card wrappers, cardboard boxes from Ziploc bags, tissue boxes, empty bottles (vanilla, mouthwash), hard plastic packaging, foil wrapping, gum containers, plastic straws, and other random bits. The Lindt cardboard was cut into circle that were slotted together to create segmented balls, that were attached to the plastic straws. Base structure was built by stacking boxed and containers, then attaching to flattened boxes for stability. The straws with the balls on them were then attached at different heights and angles, with foil wrapping strategically placed. Some straws were bent into starbursts and mounted in amongst the rest. All items were found in the recycling in my student housing unit - all my roommates had gone home when lockdown started.

Is it too late to say “Happy New Year”? It has been rather quiet for me, other than multiple dental appointments - still working on the teeth that got broken in my fall last summer (and other maintenance as I hadn't had a dentist of my own since 2017); and recovering from an awful coughing virus that was exhausting and lasted for over four weeks. I hope that 2026 has gotten off to a good start for everyone.

Is it too late to say “Happy New Year”?
