No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.
Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

The first day of class can be scary even as an adult and even for something as fun as a @rarebookschool.bsky.social course on the Hand-Press period. We had our first class this afternoon and it was delightful. Not scary at all.

Happy birthday!
I don't dare interrupt you....
It is a bizarre ad. So dramatic. It makes me feel nauseous (as a very content single person). It seems so badly timed with the 'lonely childless cat lady' rhetoric flying around.
I just finished reading this essay (& Coffee with a Codex) &
my thought was similar - return both the original & a digitized copy to Ethiopia & the British Library can also make the digitized copy available for its users. This whole book would be excellent content for a book club discussion series.
I'm so sorry to hear.

Some lovely ampersands here! I think the fourth one, down at the bottom, is my favourite. (And of course, the ampersand′s birth and evolution are covered at Shady Characters: shadycharacters.co.uk/series/the-a...)
This year's six Gifford Lectures by Dr. Alexandra Walsham on Religious Movements: Motion and Emotion in Early Modern Christian History were beautiful contributions to our understanding of early modern European religious culture.
