It’s one part, but the more radar time I get the more I believe mesoanalysis is critical. It’s a lot easier to pull the trigger on a TOR on a marginal storm when you’re fully aware how volatile the environment is.

Be safe! Looks like a monster.
And these days about half of people getting mad are literally teenagers buying blue checkmarks on Twitter lol
The analog in my mind the last few days has been 1/7/1989, so it’ll interesting to see how that plays out.

That’s brutal. Looks similar to the 2009 ice storm in KY.
why is this staged like they’re meeting to talk about how to capture and tame the xenomorph
This looks like a place in the Nashville Airport called “Toby Keith’s Whiskey Honky Tonk” that charges $23 for something called a Club Sando and $17 for a 6oz Jack and Coke that’s 99% Coke.

Every Thanksgiving I always think about my grandma’s (may she rest in peace) deviled eggs. I don’t know if it’s a Great Depression thing or what, but she would grind any old veggies she had into a relish and mix them with the yolks. I do not recommend crunchy deviled eggs.
Come work with me at NWS Paducah! Our hydrologist position (GS 12-13) is live on USAJobs. Our area covers the confuence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, so it can very busy at times. #weatherjobs

Agreed 💯
Yeah I get that vibe too to say the least, and I honestly wonder how much of the NWS criticism is in good faith. We have some hilly counties in our CWA, and the EMs there have really detailed knowledge about what creeks flood if certain amounts of rain fall upstream regardless of the forecast.
I’m struggling to understand why local officials were surprised by a flash flood event happening under a Flood Watch in a place called “Flash Flood Alley.” Regardless of the specifics of the forecast, you’d think they would be more aware of the flash flood risk in that area in general.
Looking forward to AI-powered SaaS (Smallpox as a Service).
Fun fact: He’s been confirmed for over three months and hasn’t sent a single all-hands email. Wouldn’t even know he existed if not for news clips.
While talking to survivors in Marion, a few told me that the final WEA for a Tornado Emergency was what pushed them to shelter. Heard the same thing from survivors after 12/10/21 as well. Something to think any NWS folks if you ever find yourself considering the need for one.

Here are some pictures I took while surveying last Friday’s tornado damage in Marion, IL (EF4) and Morganfield, KY (EF3). Beyond thankful no one die in either of these tornadoes.
Personally the only more severe tornado damage I’ve personally seen was in Bremen, KY, after 12/10/21.
Hello! I surveyed this tornado. There were a couple of interior walls that were left standing but were later pushed down to help clear debris. The local emergency manager showed me a picture of what it looked like immediately after the tornado hit. Most of the slab was cleared though.
Never thought Indiana’s political situation would be so much different from Kentucky’s, but here we are…
I am so so sorry. You didn’t deserve this. I wish I could do more for you and everyone they illegally fired.
A refreshing breath mint!
My favorite genre of Christmas TV specials is the ones that were obviously filmed in the summer but everyone has to pretend it’s cold and snowy.
Being both a Purdue fan and a Colts fan means I’ve watched a lot of awful football this fall. At least the Colts are kinda entertaining when they’re losing.
I love a festive Christmas balloon decoration!

Had an interesting trip to the Cairo (Illinois, not Egypt) library today to do some weather history research for the 100th anniversary of the Tri-State Tornado. The library is beautiful!
Since the old house was too small, this is the first time Molly and PJ have ever seen a Christmas tree! Aside from trying to eat the needles they love it haha
