Alt: a blonde woman singing into a microphone with the words "that's not my name" written below her
Some kind soul has been telling folk at work my name is "Chia". They're apparently so confident and persuasive about it that I've had chats today with several people who've known me for 5+ years randomly start pronouncing my name like that. So that's fun. π

A sleeping fawn lurcher's head rests on Cia's thigh, an open laptop rests precariously on her other leg.
Well this seems conductive to getting shit done today.
(She's already shoved the laptop off my knee twice, and grumbled at me for replying to an email)

Close up of a paperback copy of Godkiller by Hannah Kaner resting atop the edge of another blue paperback book; out of focus in the background, a fawn lurcher lounges on a grey bed and a giant fuzzy caterpillar.
Gutted we can't go out and enjoy a rare sunny day in the park. Settling instead for naps, resting the cut toebean, roasting a chicken for the fuzzy invalid, and me finally getting to crack the spine on some new books.

Freya, a fawn coloured lurcher, lies on her belly facing away from the camera under a grey and black paw-print blanket on a red bed. An empty bowl of food rests by her head.
Miraculously survived the vet visit and now home for dinner and antibiotics. Very grateful our vet understands Freya's fear of them and was so good with her.
And now we sleep.

So frustrating. She was playing with another dog - really nicely and one that in the past she would have been reactive towards so big progress there - and they both ran into a bit of grass that had hidden glass shards. Special place in hell for the idiots dropping glass bottles everywhere I swear.

My vet-phobic dog cut her paw in the park this afternoon and the vet understandably wants us to bring her in for a look. It'll probs need a bandage. Had to happen *just* as we're in the middle of trying to muzzle-train her for vet visits. π

First Bonfire Night in the (now not so) new house. The dog formerly not bothered about fireworks is now barking every time some fuckwit in the area sets off a rocket. (Every 2-3 mins)
Remind me why members of the public "need" to purchase small explosives and set them off in built up areas. π

The dog split my nose open with her forehead about 20 mins ago. I'm totally fine but wish she'd chosen a week when my intern wasn't starting and when we didn't have an in person open day at work. Like at least give me a purple bloody snoot on a WFH no meetings week.

Had a splendid time posing in our office's garden and confusing everyone used to seeing a colleague's Italian Greyhound dashing about amongst the leaves.

Finally washed and blocked my Nyx sweater (pattern by The Creabea/Rebecca Clow) and it's my new fave thing to wear.
It's oversized, it's fuzzy, and it was just as fun to knit this version as it was the first one I made last year. π§Ά

Colourwork knitting on wooden needle tips resting against a turquoise and pink leopard print fabric bag; the knitting has grey 1x1 ribbing and the colourwork is 1x1 alternating colours in coral, burgundy, navy blue and black.
One day of annual leave down and I already feel so rested that I've cast on my mum's Christmas present (Kintra sweater). π§Άπ
Also feeling pretty smug as I'm finally using up some minis that have been in my stash for 4 years.

The sleeveless body of a colourwork sweater resting against the back of a grey sofa; the colourwork pattern is of diamonds and zigzags, knit in a fluffy mauve bouclΓ© yarn and a smooth charcoal yarn
Slow progress on the sweater but watching the bulk of Apple Cider Vinegar has definitely helped.
I said when I started this I was excited for the sleeves. I lied. Learning how to tension bouclΓ© put me off an entire chart back. It'll be worth it, but I can already hear myself cursing Past Cia.

Finally split for the sleeves, and discovered the dye on the dark MC is transferring onto my fingers. Washing's gonna be fun... But that's a future me problem. Current me is enjoying how the colourwork pattern and texture of the bouclΓ© are working out.

Not just you. I agree.
Though having endured growing up in a house full of the bloody things to the point of a sibling attempting to store them in my room whilst I still lived there, I suspect my feelings are poss stronger and more offensive to both the figures and their owners at this point.

A zigzag colourwork patterned sweater yoke on a circular needle resting on a grey checked blanket; the yarns are a high twist charcoal and a fuzzy mauve bouclΓ©.
Close up of a charcoal high twist yarn and a fuzzy mauve bouclΓ© yarn knit up in a zigzag colourwork pattern for a sweater. The knitting is held on a circular cable needle and a hold and black circle-shaped progress marker is attached to a ribbed collar at the top of the yoke.
Started a second Nyx sweater using bouclΓ© as the CC and it's knitting up an absolute treat.
Pattern's by Rebecca Clow (the.creabea on insta) and it's easily the best thing I knit last year. I wear my first Nyx loads. Very much recommend if anyone needs enabling into a new cast on... π§Ά
