The best way to shiny hunt a starter is get a catch combo of a different pokemon, because the starters are rare spawns, so if you see one in the wild encounter it and run away which makes another spawn.

My starter before I made a new save file was Scorbunny, when I first saw it in the teaser I knew i wanted him to be my starter!
Grookey is a best starter choice! It gets grassy terrain as an ability, because it can learn grassy glide which always goes first! You can used other moves like wood hammer for grass stab, fake out, u-turn, high horsepower, or knock off!
