Absolutely. I'm learning that a lot of people (even professionals) present their own opinions as truth and there's a skill in spotting them.

Wow. Doesn't bode well for my current WIP π¬ but then a writing tutor recently insisted that I will immediately lose ALL my readers anyway when I switch POV half way through the novel. I told her a TLC editor loved it and suddenly she changed her mind π€¦ββοΈ

That *is* a milestone, one I have yet to reach. The next novel maybe...?

Finally got my King ink.
Iβm not hiking for the cardio; Iβm hiking for the tiny miracles.
Iβm obsessed with the tiny signs of hope hidden on the trail, like the first flowers of early spring. In a loud world, these small, persistent cycles are where I find my peace.

What kind of salt-hag would be here?
This week sees the return of Catriona Ward to the show.
Sheβs here to talk about NOWHERE BURNING - her new novel of childhood survival, killer megastars, and a creepy estate high in the mountains. But we get so so much weirder than that.
So. Much. Fun.

Chapter 1 of Moby Dick, page 1 The phrase βCall me Ishmaelβ, the first sentence of the book, is highlighted in blue, with careful highlighting on the very big C at the start. Above this, written in ballpoint pen βHis nameβ
Love the glimpse into the beautiful mind that notated this used copy of Moby Dick I got

I did, I did! I Plotstormed the hell out of Novel 2 and it is FABULOUS(ly awful, probably, but just let me enjoy the honeymoon phase...!)
I know what you mean. I try to avoid politics on social media but... well... you can't right now, can you?
Ooh great! Was hoping she'd be on again
Well I have had a lovely if exhausting few weeks bonding with my newborn, but I am nothing if not fickle so will callously cast it aside to attend again to Novel 1, in the sure and certain hope that it will be finished one day... won't it? WON'T IT???

Yesterday I was scrolling and randomly came across a review for a book I really want to read, by an author I donβt know but seems cool, and so I read the review and it broke my f*cking heart and I havenβt been able to stop thinking about it.
A watercolour illustration of Barnaby Rudge seated against a rough stone wall, his raven Grip perched beside him. Barnaby, dressed in patched, rustic clothing and a feathered cap, extends his hand toward the bird as if sharing a secret. Grip, the raven, stands alert, his dark form contrasting with Barnabyβs worn boots and the scattered straw at their feet. A basket and a staff lie discarded nearby, while a doorway and stone staircase in the background hint at a world beyond their quiet conspiracy. The scene is intimate, almost conspiratorial, capturing the bond between man and bird in Dickensβ Barnaby Rudge.
βThe raven gave a short, comfortable, confidential kind of croak;βa most expressive croak, which seemed to say, βYou neednβt let these fellows into our secrets. We understand each other. Itβs all right.ββ
(Charles Dickens βBarnaby Rudgeβ)

It was! Difficult to describe but it's sort of goal setting in a really fun & creative way
When everything feels uncertain, I look to the rhythms of the land. They teach me to trust what I canβt yet see.
Pause for a moment today. Notice whatβs quietly growing around you, and within you.

Hey BSky, I'm looking for your BOOK RECS on true crime fiction: novels or novellas that read like a true crime non-fiction or a podcast. Think Six Stories by @mattjwesolowski.bsky.social, True Crime Story by Joseph Knox, or Penance by Eliza Clark.
Fantastic! Well done!
Ooh well done! I hope you've been able to celebrate somehow!
A powerful and enriching session on Vision Boarding this evening from @akischilz.bsky.social at @thelitconsultancy.bsky.social. Completely new to me and a technique I didn't know I needed... until now!
