Fabaceae emerge as amongst the most embolism-resistant tree families in Amazonia. Forests in the Brazilian and Guiana Shield regions, where Fabaceae abundance is high, are expected to have greater drought resistance than Western Amazon forests.

I’m happy to share that I’m a co-author of a study using UAV hyperspectral data to estimate AGB in remnants of the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest.

We analyzed how spatial resolution and the presence of shadowed pixels affect biomass estimations.

Effect of bark beetle disturbance on fire dynamics in Central Europe 🪲🔥

Beetz et al. found that forest stands with previous bark beetle infestations had larger areas of very high burn severity and more extreme fire intensities than most other fuel types.
