Does anyone have suggestions of photographic/art book retailers that would maybe be interested in stocking my darkroom book?

So a book update. I was initially intending to distribute online via Amazon etc; but the amount of money that is added on for the consumer by the distribution system is ridiculous. To keep its price somewhere sensible, the book will be available from me directly & potentially some other suppliers.

Fun morning spent doing work prints from yesterdayβs Welsh valleys session. This afternoon has been a few house jobs mixed in with editing the video of this trip and why I spent 6 hours driving yesterday to visit 2 rows of terraced houses in the Rhonda

Glad it works for you. Iβve tried photo session but doesnβt seem to fit right in my practice. The act of photographing/making/creating to replace take or shoot works but to explain the act of going to a place to photograph and observe a thing, session isnβt quite there for me.

In almost in focus podcast last episode (the photographs we donβt make) we talked about as students how we made photographs that did TAKE. How quickly our tutors pulled those photographs apart and how much we grew in our contextual awareness. I think that is the difference

Totally agree. Iβve also found it interesting in how different age groups tend to understand this. Mixed-to-negative feedback to the idea from older photographers - stuck in their ways perhaps? But my students (16-18) nearly all appreciate the mindset and try to adjust their own language.

I am very excited for this week. For about 20 years I have wanted to go to a particular small village to see with my own eyes the location of my favourite photograph. This week I am doing it. Stay tuned to my Instagram and YouTube for updates on the trip and following darkroom sessions.

@warboyssnapper.bsky.social Yep. Iβve written about it since as a blog on 35mmc and got a bit of stick back from people who donβt think the same; but yes I try very hard to avoid this type of language and always correct myself when I slip - some terms like βphotoshootβ are harder to avoid though.

The atmosphere of the darkroom is important. It has toβ¦have room to move around in while working. And it must have music. I don't think I could ever stay in the darkroom without it. It has been my best concert place. It's also where I meditate. I do a lot of things in the darkroom all at once.

Just got this book today. Itβs been on my wish list for years and managed to get a copy for Β£5! Only had a chance to skim through so far but itβs already got me super excited on things to try. Iβll never get to have a darkroom lesson from Gene Smith. This book is as close as it gets

I remember when I worked at a gallery years ago we represented a photographer who worked like that. It was beautiful. Cuba at 6400 iso on 100 iso film and then hand printed. Wish I could remember his name.
