Have yet to hear an argument why, if voter ID and passport are to be required to vote, those should not be provided free of charge. Or why, if voting is required in person, on a fucking weekday, every voter should not get time off work and transportation to their polling place provided.

Of course not everyone is like this. There is still skating in the streets, and a lot of the “no politics in skateboarding” voices come from the Used to Skate crowd with false nostalgia for a carefree time in their lives, or ppl with opposition to *certain* politics.

The 10% happening outside the fence is by & large less risky/punishable as well. Many skaters have little connection to engaging with friction in the “the streets” (cops, traffic, concerned citizens, bullies) and it shows. An activity which used to expose one at a young age to
20-25 years ago during the skatepark boom, I was concerned what kind of effect it would have on skateboarding. Like, what skating will mean if 90% of it happens in a fenced-in designated area. A generation later, we’re finding out.
You just can show up to a protest armed with hand guns. Or arms for that matter. You just can’t. Is it legal? Sure. But you just can’t do that.
