I’ve got a few issues with Man of Steel as an adaptation, but my biggest gripe with it as a film is Cavill
Any time last night I thought a scene was lacking, the issue could be traced to him. He’s a great physical embodiment of Superman, but he doesn’t have much range as an actor
Kinda fun doing this thread but I’m a little too tired to keep it up I won’t lie
Incredibly frustrating that they don’t keep the Scout Ship in the North Pole by the end of the film to be Clark’s Fortress
Amy Adams is such a good casting for Lois and her scenes in the first half are so good but I wish there was just more character to her besides what she does for the story
People got unreasonably upset over Clark trashing that guy’s truck. Baller move honestly
The themes of choice in this film are set up very well and it really frustrates me that they’re upended later in the film because Clark is basically forced to make his first appearance as Superman

The first flashback is really great, I love seeing younger Clark being an outcast because of what he can do
The Oil Rig scene fucking rocks and is a great introduction to this Clark without him saying a single word
I would LOVE to know how the Phantom Zone in this world works beyond being encased in ice and launched into a black hole
I sometimes wonder what would have become of Kal’s body containing the full Krpytonian Codex in a true sequel to this film
The visuals in this film still stun me 11 years later, Amir Mokri killed the cinematography here

I have a fairly good idea on how to actually use a sequel to trash Post-Crisis in the subtext of the script I just need a Lex Luthor this time around to do so
I made this films with a lot of Post-Crisis-isms for Kal in it which is a bit of a regret so if/when I make a second one 2-3 years down the line I want to dive back into silver/golden age Superman as research. Heavy emphasis on Silver Age
And while I’m at it I might as well post my “What if Story of the Century was made in 2007” edit because I think this one is hysterical
